Top 10 Mock Draft

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Note. These 10 Players right here listed are listed as if I had the Top 10 Picks and I can take any player who was still left on the board. There is a good chance you can get a lot of these players later than the position I have them listed here.

Recap of the month coming up tomorrow and the future of BEAST DOME for the month of March.

BEAST

BEAST FRANCHISE

4.6.15

1st Pick

Mike Trout – OF – LAA

Enough said about Trout. He is a Future Hall of Fame player who has yet to reach his peak. Anywhere from 50 HRs to 30+ SBs is the dream season we all want, but we will likely settle with a 40 HR/25 SB season. You cannot pass on Trout this season as he is clearly the most dominant player in Roto Baseball.

2nd Pick

Hanley Ramirez – SS – BOS

Hanley has put on a lot of muscle this offseason. Him, David Ortiz, Pablo Sandoval are hanging out 24/7 and taking pictures at dinner on Instagram every night. Everything else you need to know about Hanley can be read here. HANLEY BEING HANLEY

3rd Pick

Troy Tulowitzki – SS – COL

Tulo is a BEAST who can easily be among the league leaders in HR/RBI/Batting Average. He is very injury prone which is the only downfall, but a healthy Tulo is easily the MVP when healthy. The reason Hanley moves ahead of Tulo is the amount of easy ball parks Hanley will see as well as easy pitchers that should lead to a HUGE season. The most important factor to make a case for Hanley is those potential 15+ SBs which will make a big difference in the standings.

Tulo is a BEAST and he is a player to target in all leagues.

4th Pick

Miguel Cabrera – 3B – DET

If Miguel Cabrera qualifies at 3B in your Fantasy League, he is the easy #4 player to take this season. Miggy had a slow 2014 but that should be put in the past as he may be the best hitter in the game. Miguel Cabrera can easily hit 50 Bombs on any given season. If Miguel Cabrera does not qualify at 3B in your league, then let him go as there are plenty of 1B in the sea.

5th Pick

Clayton Kershaw – SP – LAD

After the Top 4 Hitters it is time to go after the Top Pitchers. Kershaw is the top pitcher in baseball. Everytime Kershaw goes to the mound you can expect 7 INN/2 ER/9 Ks. He will either fall short or exceed those numbers, he is consistent and as long as the Dodgers him run support despite losing Kemp and Hanley, Kershaw will win the NL CY Young.

6th Pick

Felix Hernandez – SP – SEA

King Felix used to have the problem of getting zero run support. Last season that changed with the addition of Robinson Cano who woke up this offense by getting on base at a consistent rate. Now the Mariners brought in Nelson Cruz which should give you the confidence that King Felix will get those 200+ Ks and the 20 potential wins. Grab King Felix.

7th Pick

Jacoby Ellsbury – OF – NYY

If people are discounting Jacoby Ellsbury because of his struggles with the Yankees, go ahead and laugh at them later. There are few players in the MLB who can put up similar stats that Kenny Lofton used to put up with his 14 HR/75 SB season. If there is anyone who can put up that type of season, Jacoby Ellsbury is your guy. Even in a season where it seemed like Jacoby did not live up to expectations, he still ended up with 16 HR/70 RBI/39 SB. With a year of confidence under the Yankees system, expect to see Jacoby Ellsbury reach those BEAST numbers that cannot be touched.

8th Pick

Carlos Gomez – OF – MIL

CarGo Future’ was one of the prime BEAST DOME breakout picks a couple of years ago. While Jacoby Ellsbury has a lot of that speed with the potential 30 HR/50 SB season. Carlos Gomez is the other way around. Carlos Gomez offers more power than Jacoby, and still enough electric speed to make him untouchable. Last season Gomez was not as consistent as I expected him to be, yet he still ended up with 23 HR/34 SB season. Carlos Gomez easily has the potential to hit 30+ HRs and this is the season he can do it as the Brewers offense got a lot stronger with the addition of Adam Lind and less pressure for Ryan Braun now that the steroid deal is a year old.

9th Pick

Max Scherzer – SP – WAS

252 Ks in the American League is an impressive feat. Especially when you add a 3.15 ERA and a WHIP of 1.10.

This season Scherz Dog moves to Washington where he will be facing some of the worst offenses in the NL East. The Braves offense is a joke now that they lost Upton/Gattis/Heyward. The Marlins are improved, but the Mets will still struggle to put runs on the board along with the Phillies. Scherzer has a good chance to build on his 2014 now that he is on a very dominant Nationals team.

10th Pick

Chris Sale – SP – CWS

The Clayton Kershaw of the American League, Chris Sale finally should see his offense come to life after adding Emilio Bonifacio and Melky Cabrera. The most important addition is probably David Robertson who will finally give Sale and his fantasy owners the peace of mind that the bullpen can lock down his amazing outings. Chris Sale is nearly unhittable when he is on, and we should expect him to continue to be a BEAST.

Fantasy Baseball 2015

Hanley Being Hanley (#2 Pick)

By Muntradamus

The very first pick in every draft is Mike Trout. He is getting better every season and a 50 HR/20 SB campaign is not impossible for a player of his caliber. Mike Trout was ICE COLD for a good portion of the start of the season, yet he still ended up with 36 HR/115 RBI/111 Runs/16 SB/.287 average. Trout is going to be in the Hall of Fame and we have not even seen the best of his career as he is still 23 years old.

Once Trout is off the board the field opens up completely. The pick I will be making in this position is Hanley Ramirez day in and day out. If you are new to BEAST DOME, this may come as a surprise. If you are returning and you are taking Hanley Ramirez once again, you are still a little surprised considering how bad he was in 2013. Let us analyze why.

Getting hit on the hand with a 90+ mph fastball is going to fuck up your hand. You will never have the same grip you had the day before. You are also likely playing with that hand holding a bat the next day. Once a player gets in the hand, it will linger all season and those BEAST numbers will never be there. It will effect his groove and he will have to start over every time he gets hit in the hand again.

HANLEY RAMIREZ – 2014

128 Games. 13 HR/74 RBI/64 Runs. 14 SB. .283 Average

If Hanley plays 162 Games and stays healthy with no hand problems. He likely ends up with 18 HR/85 RBI/75 Runs/18 SB. Those numbers are all-around okay. When you factor that Hanley is playing SS those numbers make him a semi-BEAST.

2015 HANLEY IS IN BOSTON

The first thing we should do is compare the ballparks from the AL East to the NL West.

NL WEST

COLORADO (Coors Field) – HR Heaven. #1 HR Ball Park in Baseball.

ARIZONA (Chase Field) – HR Ball Park only during the Summer.

SAN FRANCISCO (AT&T Ball Park) – BEST Pitcher Ball Park in Baseball.

SAN DIEGO (Petco Park) – #2 Pitcher Ball Park in Baseball.

LOS ANGELES (Dodger Stadium) – Top 5 Pitcher Ball Park in Baseball.

AL EAST

NEW YORK (Yankee Stadium) – HR Heaven. #2 HR Ball Park in Baseball.

TORONTO (Roger Centre) – Ball Flies in that Dome all year round.

BALTIMORE (Camden Yards) – Ask Chris Davis and Nelson Cruz what they think.

TAMPA BAY (Tropicana Field) – Ball Flies in that Dome all year round.

BOSTON (Fenway Park) – Hanley will hit the Green Monster every at bat.

Not only do you look at the ballparks. You also have to look up the makeups of these teams.

The NL West is built around small-ball baseball. Giants/Dodgers/Padres want to win games 3-1. The Diamondbacks want to win games in the 5-3 Range. The Rockies want to win games 9-6.

The AL East is built around power and scoring more runs. Yankees/Blue Jays/Orioles/Red Sox want to win slugfests every time they step on the field. The Rays are in complete re-build mode and will easily come in last place.

The NL West has pitchers like Clayton Kershaw/Madison Bumgarner/Andrew Cashner/Matt Cain.

The AL Easy has pitchers like Chris Tillman/Clay Buchholz/Tanaka/C.C. Sabathia/Alex Cobb.

The Dodgers last season never had any big juice going. Don Mattingly did a great job frustrating all the players which included benching Matt Kemp for nearly a month of the season. Only to see him be the BEAST MVP of the Fantasy Baseball Playoffs last season. Yasiel Puig carried the offense through the season, but players like Adrian Gonzalez did nothing in the 2nd half of the season. Matt Kemp did nothing until the last two months of the season. Hanley Ramirez never got his groove as he was getting hit by pitches on the hand everytime it seemed like he was over the last time it happened. Dee Gordon was solid, but now gone.

The Red Sox offense really struggled all season with injuries. Outside of Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz, there were no superstar consistent hitters and the team really struggled because of it. Now the Sox brought in Pablo Sandoval to build a very nice middle of the batting order. If all goes right, the batting order 2-6 will look like this.

#2. Dustin Pedroia

#3. David Ortiz

#4. Hanley Ramirez

#5. Pablo Sandoval

#6. Mike Napoli

To make this situation even better. Hanley is the projected cleanup hitter in what is arguably the best #2/#3/#4 in baseball today. When you factor in the worst pitching staffs Hanley will see, as well as the changing of leagues to a High-Scoring Shootout conference as opposed to a pitcher showdown conference. There is a great chance we can see Hanley Ramirez explode to the Monster Numbers we have been expecting all this time.

MUNTRADAMUS

Hanley Ramirez Projected 2015 Season

.297 Batting Average. 32 HR. 121 RBI. 105 Runs. 22 SB.

One thing that will help all of this come true. Hanley Ramirez is going to be playing Left Field this season which will decrease his probability of getting injured. Jump on the bandwagon of the 31 Year Old Hanley Ramirez, did I mention he started his MLB Career with the Red Sox in 2005 going 0/2 with 2 Strikeouts. Time to show everyone how good he has become and prove he is the BEAST that got away.

WANTED A HANLEY BUT GOT A TULO: FANTASY BASEBALL DRAFT STRATEGY (2014)

WANTED A HANLEY BUT GOT A TULO:

FANTASY BASEBALL DRAFT STRATEGY (2014)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

You step into your draft Room this upcoming week.  You look at a blank slate as you are about to build your Franchise for the 2014 season.  The question is..  Who should I draft to start my team?

The 1st Round is an important round.  You have to get a player that is going to stand out and carry your team when your squad goes cold.  While many go for the big bats of Paul Goldschmidt (who will hit the same amount of HRs as Adam Dunn).  The real strategy is this..

WANTED A HANLEY BUT GOT A TULO:

FANTASY BASEBALL DRAFT STRATEGY (2014)

You must. You must. Draft Hanley Ramirez in Round 1.

HANLEY RAMIREZ – LAD – SS

In Fantasy Baseball the Shortstop position is coveted.  There is no ShortStop who will hit 30 HRs and also gather 30 SBs.  There are no other Shortstops who will drive in 100 RBIs while also scoring 100 Runs while also batting around .300.  Hanley is in a class of his own.  Batting 3rd for this Dodgers Squad behind Yasiel Puig and Carl Crawford is too good to pass up.

Once he gets on base, he will steal bases consistently as pitchers have to deal with intense battles with Adrain Gonzalez and Matt Kemp.  Hanley is ready to be the NL MVP.  This is the year to go in all on him and draft him in round 1.

In Round 2.  The strategy is simple.  Outside of Hanley, only 1 other Shortstop can be in the same conversation.

TROY TULOWITZK – COL – SS

Troy is a slugger.  You throw a mistake pitch to him, you can tally up the RBIs as the ball is hanging in the air.

The Rockies are going to put on a show this season in Coors Field.  Between adding Justin Morneau, and having a healthy CarGo to go with other hitters like Cuddyer/Rosario.  The Rockies are easily one of the best offenses playing in the National League.  Outside of all this talent, they play half of their home games in Colorado.  Colorado, home of the Home Run ball in that Rocky Mountain Air.

Troy will be batting 3rd with this stacked squad around him.  30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs will be automatic.  15 SBs will be a possible dream, but the .300+ Batting Average is the icing on the cake.

You can argue Tulo is a better fantasy player than Hanley when healthy, but give me Hanley and those SBs anyday of the week.

ADVANTAGE TO DRAFTING BOTH

  • No other team will have a Shortstop that can compete with you.
  • Power from your SS position and MI position is rare.  Now you have two players who can play like star sluggers at those positions.
  • Injuries happen to both of these players.  If it does, you have a star SS ready to move up on the depth chart, while you replace your UTI or other Spot Tulo was occupying with a Specialist.  HRs like an Adam Dunn, SBs like a Ben Revere.

-FAIRBALLS

My first full season as a Beastdome.com VIP with Muntradamus was a total success. I finally won a fantasy baseball championship!!!

Muntradamus was there to help me every step of the way this season. Draft day (the most nerve wracking day of the season for me) Muntradamus had a plan(Chris Davis!!!!!!!!!!!), and was there to guide me through every pick via Skype screen sharing. This VIP feature is worth the price of the entire VIP package to me. After draft day I felt very comfortable with the team he helped me build.”

With Muntradamus’ help i always felt reassured that I was making the right moves with my team. The inevitability of player injuries is there every season, and you need to quickly grab replacements that will keep your season’s momentum going. I had a few key players get injured over the course of the season. Muntradamus was pretty much always available through Skype chat to help me keep my team strong. I find that the hardest aspect of playing daily fantasy baseball is deciding which players on your team can be waived for those replacements that will make your team better. For the second season in a row he helped me grab a few crucial speed guys down the final stretch of the season in order to gain ground in stolen bases. This ultimately won me my championship.

I really can’t praise him enough for his help. Muntradamus is clearly obsessed with playing fantasy sports, and helping me win a championship became his obsession as well.

THANK YOU, “MUNTS”!!!

FANTASY BASEBALL WHERE YOUR SWAG AT!: We Want Moore! We Want Moore! (VOL. VII) | Hanley Ramirez Fantasy Baseball

FANTASY BASEBALL WHERE YOUR SWAG AT!:

We Want Moore! We Want Moore! (VOL. VII)

By Andrew Levy

Hello everyone and welcome to another week of “Where my swag at!”. The weekly article that takes a look at struggling players and I try to reverse the curse and give a little push to get them out of whatever funk, hitting or pitching, they are in.

It looks like I am sticking with the theme, “Lets try and get the Dodger players out of the funk they are in.”  Before we get into that, let us take a look at the best calls I have made this season.

HITTING

AARON HICKS – OF – MIN

(DAY I CALLED HIM OUT 4/21): .059 Average. 0 HR. 4 RBI. 2 SB

(STATS AS OF 6/10): .179 Average. 6 HR. 19 RBI. 4 SB.  Now DL.

PITCHING

KRIS MEDLEN – SP – ATL

STATS AS OF 5/13:  3.44 ERA/1.41 WHIP/(1-5)/33 K (49 1/3 INN)

STATS AS OF 6/10: 2.87 ERA/1.20 WHIP/(3-6)/60 K (78 1/3) INN)

As I said I am sticking with the Dodgers theme and trying to get them out of the slump. I have already written about Matt Kemp and Josh Beckett. This week I move into the infield and discuss Hanley Ramirez. Yes, the Hanley that was so good in Miami but fell out of favor with them. Being on a new team and in a new city, Hanley has a chance to write a new chapter in his career. So you would think he would come out of the gates red hot and show the LA fans that he is worth every penny they traded for him right?

HANLEY RAMIREZ – SS/3B – LAD

Stats as of 6/10: .350 Average/1 HR/3 RBI/1 SB

Well that hasn’t happened. Hanley has only played in 9 games this season (4 Starts).  Yes I said it, 9 games. Now in the 9 games he does have a .350 BA. That is the only good part. He has 1HR and 3 RBI on the season. Now I am not taking into account all the time he has spent on the DL, but doesn’t that make it worse?

Hanley needs to show why they traded for him and he needs to produce. Maybe he should take some notes from the Dodgers new phenom Yasiel Puig. If you don’t know who that is by now, just wait till the end of the season when he is the ROY.

RAMIREZ, WHERE YOUR SWAG AT?

You might look at this next player and think he has not lost any swag. He started off the season 8 – 0 but has quickly fallen. The player I a talking about is Tampa’s 2nd ace Matt Moore. Matt Moore started off the season by going 8-0 and was looking like the early favorite to win the AL CY Young Award or at least an All Star Game start. He was a late round draft pick but has paid off for everyone who has drafted him. However as of late he has not been the Matt Moore he was when he started the season.

MATT MOORE – SP – TB

Stats as of 6/10: 3.78 ERA/(8-2)/1.35 WHIP/64 in 69 INN

In his last 2 starts Moore has been the polar opposite of his earlier self. On 6/4 Moore pitched against Detroit. He lasted only 2 innings. In the 2 innings pitched, he gave up 7 hits with 6 earned runs and 6 walks. The only positive note of that outing was he got 1 K.

No way Moore comes out in his second start of the week and does worse right. Nope, it got worst. In the 5 innings pitched on 6/9, Moore gave up 12 hits and 8 earned runs. He did however lower his walks to 1 and raise his strikeouts to 6. Is this the Matt Moore we have been waiting to see, or can he turn it back around and become the dominant pitcher he was to start the season? We will have to wait and see.

MOORE, WHERE YOUR SWAG AT?
