SUPER BASH BROTHERS

By Muntradmaus

BEAST DOME NATION.

It is no secret that Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis are headliners at BEAST DOME.

MUNTRADAMUS HR CHAMPION PREDICTION

Chris Davis was my HR Champion pick in 2013 and 2015. Mark Trumbo was my guy in 2016.

Today these two BASH BROTHERS go to the small ball park in Cincy to face Bronson Arroyo. Bronson does not have what it takes to strike either of these two sluggers up. When they come up to bat, you can expect Fireworks to be shooting from the sky all game.

I could go on about both of these sluggers, but by now you already know.

MUNT BATTERS OF THE NIGHT (WEEK 3)

Starlin Castro. 3-4. 2 2B. 2 Runs

THE POWER SQUAD:

BEAST 5 HOME RUN HITTERS

By Muntradamus

When you’re at a baseball game, and you see a player hit a HR over the fence. There is nothing to do besides give respect for that player. Whether it is the Hometown star, or it is a backup catcher on the opposite team. The HR ball deserves respect.

I have now called the HR Champion 4 YEARS IN A ROW. A feat that no Expert has done in FantasyPros History.

MARK TRUMBO 2016 ARTICLE

Chicks dig the long ball. Fantasy Sports players dig the long ball.

Here are my 5 Candidates for HOME RUN CHAMPION.

Before I get into the list, I just want to show something FantasyPros just released.

The Top Expert Picks at each position.

 There are 57 FantasyPros Experts.

I Dominate this list. This is not the first year this has happened either.

 #1

CHRIS DAVIS

ADP 77

If you want to go to Vegas with a large sum of money, and put it on a HR Champion. Chris Davis is definitely your guy.

Last season he played who knows how long with a dislocated finger that required offseason surgery, and he still hit 38 Home Runs. He has been the HR Champion in 2013/2015 (Both years I ranked him in that position). The reason 2014 was thrown off was due to the birth of his child which came just as the Power Hitter finally found his groove. After returning from a few days off, the rhythm was never the same and he low key blamed it on his child by saying it was rough waking up in the middle of the night all the time.

Chris Davis is the heart and soul of power baseball. His pop flys explode off the bat, and he will ding 50+ in the American League East.

#2

CHRIS CARTER

ADP 259

Carter is nothing but a PURE POWER BEAST.

He spent his first 6 season of Baseball in the American League West. The A’s traded him because his POWER or nothing attitude really does not fit the Billy Beane style. He went to Houston where he raked 29 HRs in 2013 then followed that up with 37 HRs in 2014.

The Astros did not give Carter time to bounce back after a slow start in 2015, they also knew they were not going to re-sign him. So he went to Milwauke in 2016 and ended up leading the National League in Home Runs. Co-Champion with Nolan Arenado. Who plays in Coors Field..

Now the Yankees signed Chris Carter.

Carter is a guy who can blast 40+ Homeruns in the NL Central. Now he goes to a softball field in New York.

In his 3 career lifetime trips to Yankee Field as a member of the A’s/Astros. He hit a HR in each one of those series. That is some serious clutch hitting to hit a HR everytime you visit Yankee Stadium.

Yankees have Greg Bird (Coming off Shoulder Surgery) and a pair of aging OF options in Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner. Matt Holliday can always slide into the OF, and Chris Carter will find his way in the lineup nearly every game. The Yankees have nothing to lose on a 1 year deal, and Chris Carter has everything to gain.

Chris Carter is available after Round 20 in every Fantasy Baseball Draft, and he is an easy sleeper that leads the majors in the Home Runs.

#3

NELSON CRUZ

ADP 38

The guy hits straight up missiles off his bat.

If you have not had the pleasure of watching Nelson Cruz HR Footage in your lifetime, check it out on Youtube. I do not know if Nelson Cruz puts explosives in the inside of his bat, but I would hate to be in front of any ball this guy hits.

Nelson Cruz is 36 years old, some would say that is too old. I say age is just a number, unless it’s Football or Basketball. Nelson Cruz was born to hit baseballs harder than person on this earth and the Mariners are stacked in 2017. The addition of Jean Segura to set the table for Nelson Cruz who still has Robinson Cano batting in front of him, it is going to be a fun year to root for the Mariners.

Psychologically, when a pitcher has to face Robinson Cano, and be so perfect with every single pitch. Then have to do the same thing over again with Nelson Cruz. It is hard to keep that type of focus, especially with Kyle Seager somewhere in the mix with Jean Segura’s speed on the base path.

If a pitcher throws a fastball that is not fast enough, and Nelson Cruz has that pitch on his robot tracker.

BOOOOOOOOOM

#4

GIANCARLO STANTON

ADP 36

We look at a player like Sammy Sosa, who is truly one of the best power hitters in the history of the game. And we see Sammy Sosa and his digression after he took a fastball off the side of the head.

It is hard to argue we are not seeing the same thing with Stanton. Giancarlo does not appear to be comfortable after taking the fast ball to the face. Wearing that shield protector definitely helps, but if throw him inside pitches with movement. Giancarlo is a deer in the headlights.

With that being said, Stanton and his POWER is second to none. He hits Homeruns with no effort at all. You throw him a changeup that forgets to changeup, and he will hit that ball out of the ball park as if it was Steph Curry shooting a Free Throw.

Last season was a rough one of the Marlins. Barry Bonds coming into town put pressure on Stanton to perform like a Hall of Fame Champion. Dee Gordon was suspended for steroids. R.I.P. Jose.

Things will be a lot calmer in 2017 for Miami. Giancarlo Stanton will start to be more Giancarlo Stanton, and he is an easy candidate to lead the majors in Home Runs if the pitches and the breaks go Miami’s way.

Nobody does it as easy as Giancarlo who can Homer off of any pitcher, even hit 2 against Kershaw in Dodger Stadium last year. A game I went to.

#5

MARK TRUMBO

ADP 76

Trum-BEAST.

The guy killed it last year in the American League East in his first season, and it would not be that surprising to see him do it again. Trumbo is only 31 Years Old, Age is just a number, unless it’s Football or Basketball.

What makes Trumbo so unique as a power hitter besides the fact that if you’re a soft lefty you are better off intentionally walking him. What makes him unique is his pop. All the balls off his bat seem to go in the air, which means he has perfected the power swing. When you play in Yankee Stadium/Camden Yards, and Fenway for a good portion of your season. Pop Flys in those stadiums usually result in Home Runs.

The Orioles should be a better team in 2017. Mark Trumbo will benefit from all of it.

FANTASY BASEBALL 2017 1B BEAST STRATEGY

FANTASY BASEBALL 2017

1B BEAST STRATEGY

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Power. Power. Power

1B is a position where you need Power. There are Elites at this position who can not only lead the majors in Home Runs, but as well as RBIs.

So when Experts are saying.

Draft Joey Votto (#4 1B Expert Consensus)

.300+ average. 30 HR range. 100 RBI.

Draft Paul Goldschmidt (#1 1B Expert Consensus)

.300+ average. 30+ HR Range. 100+ RBI Range. 20 SB.

Draft Freddie Freeman (#6 1B Expert Consensus)

.270+ average. 25+ HR. 90+ RBI.

They are setting you up to fail.

screen-shot-2017-02-28-at-3-38-31-am

You are steering your draft towards a brick wall as you are wasting quality picks that can be used for so many other superstars.

TO name two hitters that are currently going behind Goldschmidt.

Manny Machado (SS/3B)
Josh Donaldson (3B)

Both are Superstar BEASTs at a position which lacks depth.
Both will almost definitely have better numbers than Goldschmidt barring health.

While Votto/Goldy are definitely ELITE hitters. You are not even getting the most dominant players at your position with a 1st and 2nd Round Pick.

While Batting Average is nice, 500 At Bats towards your total at Bats for the season will not make that large of an impact.

The Stolen Bases help from Goldy, and he is the only one that can get you 20+.
Minus Ian Desmond who could put up better numbers than Goldy in Colorado.

Regardless, you can draft speed at other positions no problem at all.

The depth at 1B is unreal in 2017.

Do not rush to hit the panic button at 1B unless you are drafting.

CRUSH BEAST

CHRIS DAVIS

MUNTRADAMUS 1B RANK #1
FantasyPros 1B ECR #12

Played last season with a dislocated thumb, still hit 38 Home Runs. When this guy is 100% Healthy and feeling good about himself, there is not a more dangerous power hitter in the game. The AL East Softball Fields will always provide Chris Davis with a chance to have multiple multi HR games. He is the easy favorite to lead the Majors in Home Runs as he has done it twice over the four year span I have predicted the HR Champion. We can see a career year from Crush.

Chris Davis is being drafted as the #74 pick on average.

I would target him in the 6th round of all Drafts. You can also look to take him off the board once 6-7 1B options are off the table if you want to be risky.

3 UNDRAFTED BEASTs

If you miss Chris Davis because there was something sexy at another position you had to draft, or even if you just want to rely on any of these 3 bomb squad players below.

The power you get from these 3 players will at the very least be comparable to

Goldschmidt/Votto/Freeman

Did I mention they are all undrafted..

CHRIS CARTER

MUNTRADAMUS 1B RANK #9
FantasyPros 1B ECR #30

The steal of all steals. Currently going as the #285 Pick and not even anywhere close a Top 20 1B according to all the FantasyPros Experts.

Chris Carter is ready to be the BEAST that keeps on giving.

The Yankees brought him over to not only lead the team in HRs, but to lead the Majors. He was the Co-NL HR Champion with Nolen Arenado last season, and moving to Yankee Stadium where he has hit 3 HRs in each of his first 3 series, there is no doubt he can hit 50+.

Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner. Those guys do not stay healthy and are old and no longer vintage MUST-START players for the Yankees anymore. Greg Bird has yet to prove himself and is coming off of shoulder surgery.

The job is all Chris Carters for the taking. He is a MUST MUST DRAFT. Take him in the 20th Round with confidence. I would draft him earlier, point is nobody sees him. Contract year as well should add fire.

MIKE NAPOLI

MUNTRADAMUS 1B RANK #12
FantasyPros 1B ECR #23

Going back to Texas after a Career Boost in Cleveland is exactly what the Fantasy Doctor ordered. Mike Napoli hit 34 HRs with Cleveland last season and playing in Arlington which is one of the top HR ball parks in the majors, Napoli will be ready to Rock and BEAST for a Rangers team that will have him stacked with RB opportunities left and right.

Nap is nowhere near any experts top 20.

Let the Sheep Nap on him and take him well above his ADP of #217 if you need 1B depth.

KENDRYS MORALES

MUNTRADAMUS RANK #13
FantasyPros ECR #24

The Blue Jays are replacing Edwin Encarnacion with Kendrys Morales. While some will see this as a downgrade, which in a way is. Morales is still such a BEAST switch Hitter, the loss of Edwin will not be that deep.

Like I mentioned above, Morales is a switch hitter which is a threat alone, he smashed 30 HRs last year, the last time he did that was 2009. Health has always been the downside to Morales who is now 33 Years Old. However going from the less HR friendly ball parks of the AL Central, to the play pen AL EAST. There are going to be HRs and RBIs flying off of his bat all season long. Morales is ready to show that he is nowhere done.

FANTASY BASEBALL HISTORY: MUNTRADAMUS BLAST (CHRIS DAVIS)

FANTASY BASEBALL HISTORY:

MUNTRADAMUS BLAST

(CHRIS DAVIS)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

For the third straight season, I was the highest Ranked Expert on FantasyPros representing the HR Leader.

2013. I ranked Chris Davis way ahead of the pack. He finished with the MLB Lead 53 HRs.

2014. I ranked Nelson Cruz way ahead of the Expert pack. He finished with the MLB Lead 40 HRs.

2015. I once again picked Chris Davis way ahead of the pack, who finished today with 2 Bombs to give him 47 HRs.

These are not 1st Round Picks. Chris Davis was a 5th/6th Round Pick this year as all Experts gave up on the slugger for no reason after hitting 53 bombs in 2013. Nelson Cruz was a 8th/9th Round Pick during the 2014 draft as he moves to Baltimore coming off of FOUR straight seasons with under 30 HRs.

Chris Davis was outside of the Top 12 1B options in 2013. I saw his talent from Day 1 when he was with the Rangers and he was even in the Waiver Wire Guide during the 2012 season when he started to get regular playing time. You can use the BEAST DOME search on the right hand side to find all of my Chris Davis content.

This is likely a record that will never be BEAT on FantasyPros, and next year I will look to extend my streak.

My Projected Finish for Chris Davis (49 HR) was only 2 HRs too many, but we all know he will be at it again no matter where he ends up.

You can read my Preseason Analysis on Chris Davis here. My Secret Crush.
