FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE: Hoyer The Explorer (Week 5)

FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE:

Hoyer The Explorer (Week 5)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

The only MUST-OWN player this week off the Waiver Wire is Willis McGahee.  If you need a TE, Coby Fleener can be your option long-term.  If you have Eli Manning, do not panic.  That is my only advice to you, but do have a capable backup QB like Rivers or Hoyer.

WEEK 5 WAIVER WIRE

*VIPS GET MORE PLAYERS*

QB

BRIAN HOYER

Need a QB this week. Tune in Thursday Night to Hoyer’s debut.

TERRELLE PRYOR

No DMC or Reece means more running for Pryor.

RB

WILLIS MCGAHEE

Must own/Must-Start against his old Buffalo Bills.

RASHAD JENNINGS

This is his one chance to show he is worth something.  It is now or never forever him.

DANNY WOODHEAD

Getting 10-13 Touches a game, nice deep option in PPR league.

WR

ALSHON JEFFERY

Jeffery is not consistent enough to be a WR#2, but he has breakout potential with his size.  Do not be afraid to grab him, but Nate Washington is a better player in the long run.  Who was mentioned in the Waiver wire article last week.

TE

COBY FLEENER

Must own in all leagues, I had him ranked as a Top 10 TE last week, that was your first sign.

  1. better for long term and more trade value…

    – Owen Daniels or Coby Fleener?
    – Terrell Pryor, Ryan Tannehill or Brian Hoyer?

  2. 1. Pryor (running yards plus throws will improve) 2. Hoyer (was in pats system and likes to throw a lot) and 3. Tanner (just don’t like him).
Daniels is a proven commodity. Fleener is still a young player.
Look at their matchups calendar (when you have playoffs provided you make it). Cheers

  3. Blackmon washington woodhead woods for long term value? Leaning on blackmon since he was a beast on the latter part of 2012 season…What u guys think?

  4. My team (full point PP, 3WR no Flex):
    Stafford/RG3
    Aj Green/Amendola/M.Wallace/Blackmon/D.Hopkins/N.Washington
    A.P/R.Bush/Sproles/Bell
    Crosby
    St.Louis

Should I drop anybody and pick up Jeffery? I like my team right now, but I feel like I could use more consistency at WR.

  5. i think your wrs are fine like they are. try to pair rg3 and somebody off for a upgrade at qb or another position

  6. Ya I would trade Wallace ASAP if possible. I dont see him being the reliable wr you need.

Also MUNT>> I have been trying to email you for VIP. Holla at yo boy

  7. Thanks for the advice. I sent out an offer of RG3 and Wallace for Josh Gordon. Fair? Neither are exactly ‘sell-high’ guys right now.

  8. Pryor is probably the best out of that group, but if Hoyer has a good game Thurs he may be legit. And Fleener has no competition at TE.

  9. I would go after a bigger name WR before offering that trade. Go big and work backwards, you can not go the other way in FFB.

  10. You guys think the Denver D is gonna post decent numbers vs Dallas? I own them, but am hesitant to play them in a shootout with Dallas (a lot of cheap points could be scored). I’m gonna drop T.Y. Hilton, and either pick up Jeffery or the Carolina D. Jeffery would start at flex over Nate W. Carolina would start over Denver. Thoughts on which of the two I should go for?

  11. Any of these trades worth doing:I trade Tate/Rashad Jennings for Pierce/Mcgahee or I trade Tate/David Wilson for Pierce/Mcgahee.

  12. Thanks for the help guys, I’ll adjust my offer accordingly. 10 team league so might be tougher to get somebody to part with a bigger name WR, but I’ll certainly try.
Thomas – I’d go panthers d, arizonas been pretty generous to opposing d/st’s so far and jeffery is still 3rd or 4th option in the passing game for chicago.

wetwilly2002 – I don’t know what your team looks like but I’d want to hold onto DWilson for a bit since Da’Rell scott just got cut. His workload should increase and you might have a better opportunity to sell high on him in the coming weeks.

  13. My team stafford rg3. Mccoy murray bush j stewart ball. White djax bowe austin blackmon nate w. Fleener gronk. Akers. Streaming def.. looking at atlanta or carolina. Matt shaub is on the waiver wire and so is percy harvin / bryce brown. Drop any of my current players toget any of them or keep it how it is. 2-2

  14. Good call on Fleener for last week Munt, picked him up as a bye week option and won the matchup for me! I need some advice on who to start at flex I have Bush and Bernard starting RB’s and Green and Nelson starting WR’s I have Ridley, J. Bell, Mike Wallace or Mike Williams as options for flex, I’m favouring J. Bell at the moment as I like to favour RB’s at flex but interested on everyone’s thoughts

  15. Dude, is he trying to say that i should start Mcgahee over someone like Demarco Murray or Josh Gordon this week? Cmon now

  16. it depends on who you have…obviously McGahee is not a must start over someone like Peterson or McCoy.

with that being said, McGahee is still getting acclimated to the Brown’s offense but in 2 games, his touches and yards have increased and will continue to do so. add that with the emergence of Hoyer at QB combined with Cameron and Gordon, that should open up the running game.

  17. Start McGahee over Fred Jackson with Spiller questionable? Both teams seem to have solid run defense, but CLE appears more inclined to use RBBC system than BUF. I would think that would make F-Jax the more attractive start.

  18. Hoyer..if you need rb help right now..i guess do it. If not hold hime if you got the space

  19. try to trade of rg3 and pair with somebody like nate, blackmon to upgrade at any position you want…to make room on your roster. I would add bryce brown and harvin.

  20. yeh if the rest of your lineup is solid with good matchups you could gamble at the flex. I got burned in the playoffs last year for not starting my stud murray..i played bryce brown and lost..i say go with the player in the better offense who is going to get majority touches..murray. Im playing both mcgahee and gordon cause of by weeks.

  21. i say keep wilson with them dropping scott now. I think the giants are gaining trust back in wilson..not saying hes going to be a stud..but he has the potential to get going.

  22. The title reads Week 5 Waiver Wire, So definitely NO, it does not read start McGahee over Murray.

  23. Although none of those guys are on my waiver wire, except Jennings and he went this week already. The rest went last week and I got Woodhead and dropped Sidney Rice.

  24. Those QB calls were bad, (Joe Flacco only had 11 std pts)the running back calls average, the WR calls way too deep (mostly) and the TE calls average. (Yawn) And maybe I don’t understand, but are you using ECR’s from FantasyPros and only posting results from Rotochatter, or am I missing something?

  25. Thanks! I ended up doing that…

So here’s my current lineup: Bradford (possibly dropping for Eli?), Lynch, Woodhead, D. Thomas, White, Charles Clay, R. Jennings, Bills D/ST M. Bryant.
    Bench:Morris,Garcon,Luck,Bengals D/ST,Jared Cook, Hartline, R. Woods

I’d like to mention..Monte is up for grabs, same with J. Snelling, Brandon Bolden, R. hillman, P. Thomas, L. Blount.

*Any suggestions for changes? I’d really appreciate it guys

  26. The beginning was in response to another comment based on dropping sidney rice for woods.

  27. McGahee finally hit pay dirt!

72 yards on 26 carries and a TD.

still less than 3 yards per carry and lack of involvement in passing is a concern, but can’t complain about the 26 touches.
