Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Are Those Reece’s Pieces? (Week 10)

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire:

Are Those Reece’s Pieces? (Week 10)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Hopefully your team had Doug Martin on it.

This week #9, we saw one crucial injury that is going to put a lot of pressure on the Waiver Wire.  Darren McFadden finally landed on the injured list.  Something his owners never hoped for, but in the back of their minds were not very surprised when it happened.  A high ankle sprain will leave teams scurrying on the waiver wire for.

RECAP Waiver Wire 1st Half Of Season

MARCEL REECE VS. MIKE GOODSON

The battle is open.  Who would you take if Mike Goodson and Reese are both healthy you ask?

The answer is Marcel Reese.

The Raiders throw the ball a lot as a team.  Mostly because their pass defense welcomes shootouts at times.  When the Raiders go pass heavy, you can expect Marcel to be very active in the passing game as he is maybe the most lethal player after the catch in the NFL.  Nobody wants to get in his way when he has a head full of steam.  Marcel was also a WR at the University of Washington, so in PPR leagues he will be a BEAST.

JAMES STARKS VS. ALEX GREEN

James Starks is the answer.

Starks started the game, he looked semi-rusty missing a good sized hole.  Then he fumbled in the second quarter, luckily Aaron Rodgers out of nowhere recovered the fumble.

After that Alex Green started getting his touches consistently, again not doing anything when getting hand-offs.  Green did however get a lot of space on some screen passes.

James Starks returned, was tearing off nice runs the rest of the way.  Way better than anything Alex Green showed all season.  Green was even stopped in short yardage situation multiple times on 3rd down throughout in the game.

James Starks is a Must-Own Player on the wire.  Check out other last minute suggestions for your lineups in Week 9.

What To Do About Isaac Redman?

Chances are Jonathan Dwyer and Rashard Medenhall could be practicing again this week.  There is also a chance that Isaac Redman gets another start as both of those players are injured.

Either way you look at it, Redman is a stoppage gap from week-to-week.  He cannot be trusted an entire season and the best thing to do in this situation is to only add him if you are possibly going to play him this week.  When all three Steeler RBs are healthy, this will be a situation to avoid.

What To Do About Kevin Smith?

Not saying you should abort the 4 week plan.  But you should abort the 4 week plan.

What worked in theory is now looking like a long shot to be the real deal.  Joique Bell is definitely the next man up.  Mikel Leshoure is not ready to go down.  When you add the two together, it has Kevin Smith on the outside looking in.  If you want to drop him for a good player, do not hesitate.

Need a QB for Week 10?

JOE FLACCO – QB – BAL

Some fantasy teams have already given up on Joe who is looking just as inconsistent as we all remember.  He does get a nice matchup though in Week 10 against an Oakland Secondary that is playing people out of their position.  They do step at times like they did earlier this season in Atlanta.  If it was a last resort option, or I had to fill my Aaron Rodgers/RGIII bye.  This would be my pick.

If Flacco is owned, then you as a last resort you can go on a wing and a prayer that Ryan Fitzpatrick is able to handle this new look Patriots Secondary.  Chances are he will not, and chances are you will have a very rough week.  Matt Hasslebeck could be another option, both will be outside of the Top 15 likely this week.

Might want to go with Matt Hasselbeck if he starts.

Need a WR for Week 10?

NATE WASHINGTON – WR – TEN

If Jake Locker returns this week, which is not likely.  Then Nate gets an even bigger boost as Jake loves throwing in Nate’s direction.  He was not targeted as often as he was in previous weeks against the Bears in Week 9.  But Nate did end up getting the lone receiving TD on the day.  Matt trusts Nate, and that is good enough against a Dolphins Secondary that is searching for truth.

Need a TE for Week 10?

DWAYNE ALLEN – TE – IND

Dwayne is the most exciting fantasy player in any sport named Dwayne since, Dwayne Wade himself.  The Colts were a two TE offense that has now turned into 1 with Coby Fleener out another week with his shoulder injury.  Allen looked good in his first lone TE start totaling 75 Yards on 6 Receptions.  With a good matchup against Jacksonville.  Roll the dice.

Need a Defense for Week 10?

STEELERS – D/ST – PIT

If Pittsburgh is on the waiver wire.  They should be added in every single league.  They are playing at a high level as a group, and this week take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Pittsburgh.

Your Offense is so Bad..

Your offense is so bad, that Jacksonville’s Defense would be a sleeper matchup if they faced you.  Even in Kansas City.

Your offense is so bad, your #1 WR has not broken double digits in a Fantasy game since Week 4.

Need a Kicker For Week 10?

Try the.. I Sunk Your Battleship Strategy.

If that does not work, take a roll on Connor Barth.

CONNOR BARTH – K – TB

Connor is getting plenty of FG opportunities.  He is usually money almost every single time, this week his missed 2 FGs (one blocked).  The extra Points did help salvage what could have been a horrible day.  With the way TB is playing offense, they will be kicking a lot of FGs this week and the rest of the season.

There will be another Waiver Wire towards the end of the week with late lineup suggestions as injury news breaks during the week.  I feel that is more helpful as this article highlights the major players to look for in Free Agency to start the Week.

  1. Great stuff Munstras, trying to get back in the game this week, hurricane just took a lot out me this week, couldn’t grab players to play, or even look here for advise. So, this is welcomed information, thanks Muntras

  2. Marcel Reece is a great suggestion. Also, if DMC/Goodson are both out, Palmer, Myers are now relevant, and Moore further secures his spot there.

  3. The key:

    QB Drew Brees
    WR1 Miles Austin
    WR2 Antonio Brown
    RB1 AP
    RB2 J. Charles

Given what J.Charles has done lately and the mess that is KC AND a lot of “experts” warning of J.C’s imminent decline due to a rough 2nd half schedule I am looking to sell him to a desperate man w/ huge gaps in his backfield.

The Plan: move JC while stock is still worth something in hopes of upgrading at WR2.

I’ve been offered Marques Colston and Mikel LaShoure for JC and Antonio Brown.

I cringe at LaShoure for JC but salivate at getting Colston for Brown given I’ll have Drew Brees throwing to Colston.

Can someone tell me if I’m crazy? Or better yet, offer some advice on the above?

  4. awesome info – thanks for what you do

    need advice
rg3 & gore for doug martin and vincent jackson or gronkowski?? jackson or gronk??

  5. I’d advise passing on Gronk with A.Hernandez coming back. Gronk’s numbers are very good but I can’t see them going anywhere but down with the inevitable return of a favorite target for Brady in Hernandez. Touchdowns, looks, yardage and catches all should be compromised when Hernandez returns which should be this week. If you’ve got a serviceable TE to work with I’d pursue big upgrades where they’re most needed. Just my two cents.

  6. I would not do that trade unless you have a good replacement for RB 2… Leshoure is not that guy IMO.

  7. Should I drop Donald Brown for Pierre Thomas, Daryl Richardson, Marcel Reece, James Starks, Ronnie Brown, or Daniel Thomas?

  8. I traded BJGE & L moore and I am getting D Jackson and R Medenhall. Is this a good trade? I alread have T Richardson and J Charles at RB…I also Have B Hartline and S Johnson Jr. at WR.

  9. Could work out, but risky IMO. You obviously don’t need the Law Firm, but the Steelers RB situation could be a revolving door the rest of the year (even when Mendenhall gets back)… Jackson is an improvement over Moore, but also depends on the QB situation in Philly.

  10. I need a def for the packers bye and the steelers are taken. Who should I pick up instead?

  11. My WRs for this week are:

    Harvin,Young,S.Johnson,Amendola,Avery,D.Jones

    and my RBs:

    Rice,Charles,Bell,Rodgers,Vereen,Dwyer.

I have to start 3WR,2RB+flex….should I drop one of my players to pick up N.Washington for this week? Should I just wait for Sunday to get information on S.Johnson’s status and based on that pick Washington and drop D.Jones? I really would like to keep Vereen as a stash because of great schedule. Also in the waivers are

    Taiwan Jones
    C.Ivory
    M.Ingram
    D.Woodhead
    D.Hixon
    DHB
    E.Sanders
    L.Robinson
    D.Alexander
    G.Tate
    J.Blackmon
