QB RANKINGS

BEAST

1. TOM BRADY VS. MIA

What a season for the Golden Child who I suggested to everyone in the preseason and in my preseason rankings is the #1 overall QB.  Tom has been nothing short of fantastic, and now gets the chance to cap off his amazing season with a HUGE Week 17 against a Dolphins Pass D that is not bullet proof.  Definitely not Tommy proof.

2. AARON RODGERS @ MIN

Discount Double Check move did not come enough for Rodgers this season.  He has a chance to cap off his somewhat inconsistent #1 overall QB selected in most drafts season.  Vikings are going to play tough, but Rodgers has the weapons to get his massive numbers.

3. DREW BREES VS. CAR

Easily the best QB to own in leagues where INTs do not count against you.  Brees was a missile launching pad all season.  He did have his semi-rough patch in the middle.  But in the end, he got the job done for his owners that have made it this far.  Look for him to end the season on a bang,

4. CAM NEWTON @ NO

Super Cam, the sophmore slump seemed like a real possibility for the majority of the season.  He turned it on late, and was back to being the BEAST we all know he is.  What will 2013 hold in store?  Maybe another WR was on Cam’s X-Mas list.  Going into Week 17, Cam plays a better Saints D that has been as good as they ever have all season.  This matchup will sum up this season.  Was it a little too late, or was Cam just that inconsistent.

5. R.G. III VS. DAL

Rookie sensation.

He took the lead by storm, and now has a chance to end the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones season.  He will capitalize, and he will run up the score.  Going into 2013, RGIII is a 1st round pick.  If the Redskins get another WR, he could be the #1 overall pick.

6. PEYTON MANNING VS. KC

Peyton rewarded the owners that took a chance on his over hyped neck injury.  Peyton did not skip a beat this season, and he has a great opportunity to wrap everything up with a blowout performance.  Will Peyton run up the score?  Probably not as the Broncos will likely be handing it off a lot in the second half.

ELITE

7. RUSSELL WILSON VS. STL

Russell Wilson is a superstar.

If he takes the Seahawks to the Superbowl, everyone will jump all over the Seahawks in 2013 as the team to watch.  Wilson is good enough to do it, and it all starts in Week 17 securing an easy win against a Rams pass defense that can be beat more often than not.

8. TONY ROMO @ WAS

Romo is in a do-or-die game.  History says he will choke, but this version of Tony Romo will succeed.  He definitely was not the the pit-fall of the Cowboys this season, and Week 17 he has one last chance to save it.

9. MATT RYAN VS. TB

Falcons will run up the score on Tampa if they can.  They want to send a statement that they are the #1 seed, not just be given a #1 seed because of an easy schedule.  Matty Ice has some TDs he needs to get, and he will get them.

10. COLIN KAEPERNICK VS. ARI

The Weird science experiment the 49ers tried to go with could work.  Their offense is far from predictable and much more explosive.  Week 17 against the Cardinals is a good game to get the league scared of this unit again.

11. MICHAEL VICK @ NYG

Playing for a new contract.

Guess whose going to give it a little more this week than they ever have all season.  Michael Vick has the tools to succeed and is hungrier than ever after watching his head coach go with Nick Foles when Vick insisted he was healthy.

GOOD

12. ANDY DALTON VS. BAL

Week 17 is his last week to put on a show before the playoffs.  The Bengals need it, and the Ravens are the team that can give it up.  Sounds like a good equation, especially when you consider he is at home on top of everything.

13. MATTHEW STAFFORD VS. CHI

Staffy needed a 2nd WR.  The fact he was able to manage over 470 yards against a good Falcons Pass Defense and only Megatron.  Goes to show this guy is the real deal.   Stafford will do all he can this week, which could leave you on the short-end of the scoreboard.

14. ELI MANNING VS. PHI

Big game Eli needs to pull one out of his bag.  Eagles will not make it easy, but once again the book of Eli states. “When all seems lost, go with Eli.”

Eli has to pull it off to keep his credibility as a QB who can take you to the Superbowl.  Lights. Camera. Action.

15. ANDREW LUCK VS. HOU

Just his Luck that he faces the Texans in Week 17 to show the NFL he is ready to take the Colts to the Superbowl.

Might not be this season, but a win in this game will go a long way for their team.  Reggie Wayne can beat Jonathan Joesph, but the real question is.  Can the offensive line contain J.J. Watt from getting consistent pressure?

16. PHILLIP RIVERS VS. OAK

If Rivers want to save his fan club in SD.  Dominating the Raiders to the core where you can see their skeleton.  Is the only way it’s going to happen.

Rivers has the DNX and a scorching hot Antonio Gates as two targets who can have big games.

17. MATT SCHAUB @ IND

Matt was a disappointment this season.  The Texans ran  the ball way too much, and when the Texans had a lead.  They never tried to really pound it on.

Those two things led to Schaub being an inconsistent 250 Yard Passer, with 400 Yard/3 TD potential if they let him air it out.

18. BEN ROETHLISBERGER VS. CLE

Big Ben will try to salvage a disappointing season for the Steelers.  Health was the main problem for this team, but usually the Steelers make it to the post-season every season.  This could be a low-scoring game as both teams try to grind out a win to end 2013 on a good note.  Not the best time to go with Big Ben.

19. JAKE LOCKER VS. JAX

Disappointment QB right here.  Health and just not being good made Jake Locker a Bust for anyone that wasted a draft pick on him.  He has a chance to salvage it in Week 17 against a bad Jags defense, but why trust him now?

20. JAY CUTLER @ DET

If Cutler is going to have another 300 Yard game in the 2012-2013 campaign.  This is his very last chance to do it.

Would I take that chance?  Not a chance, but for what it’s worth Brandon Marshall is almost a lock to get a TD.

21. CHAD HENNE @ TEN

No Cecil Shorts and Chad Henne becomes an unreliable QB to close out the season.

Justin Blackmon will be his BEAST, but he needs a Beauty to ensure a good game.

RISKY

22. JOSH FREEMAN @ ATL

We have all read this book before.  Trust Josh Freeman in a crucial game, you don’t even have to read the whole thing.

23. JOE FLACCO @ CIN

No QB traveled worst than Joe Flacco this season.  Which means he cannot tolerate any hopes of a long playoff run for the Ravens.  Beating the Bengals on the road to close out the season would be a good way of putting that notion to sleep.  Still would not trust him this week.

24. RYAN TANNEHILL @ NE

He can run, he can throw, but he can’t do both consistently.

Tannehill may be playing catching, which is the only thing that can justify him putting up good numbers.  Because with no Davone Bess, Ryan Tannehill does not have enough to succeed.

25. RYAN FITZPATRICK VS. NYJ

One Week hero against the Patriots earlier this season because of all the garbage time numbers he got in that game.  Fitzpatrick will try to salvage a Week 17 hoorah for the Bills.  More like handing it off to C.J. Spiller every play.

26. SAM BRADFORD @ SEA

Bradford needs a legitimate WR.  If he can turn Danny Amendola into a star, imagine what he can do with a Reggie Wayne.  Until he gets that weapon, he is never a good start at Seattle.

Waiver Wire

CHRISTIAN PONDER VS. GB
MARK SANCHEZ @ BUF
THADDEUS LEWIS @ PIT
CHRISTIAN PONDER VS. GB
TERRELLE PRYOR @ SD
BRADY QUINN @ DEN
RYAN LINDLEY @ SF

RB RANKINGS

BEAST

1. ADRIAN PETERSON VS. GB

Will Adrian Peterson get the Record.

When has Adrian Peterson not gotten what he wants?

2. C.J. SPILLER VS. NYJ

Season Finale in Buffalo.

Expect the crowd to be electric because Spiller is feeding the crowd electricity.

3. MARSHAWN LYNCH VS. STL

BEAST MODE will get his.

The man is not human.

4. ARIAN FOSTER @ IND

What was once the #1 Overall pick in most fantasy leagues, is now the #4 RB heading into Week 17.  Foster was a choke artist for all owners that used him in their Championship game.  He has a chance to redeem himself.  Small chance.

ELITE

****5. RAY RICE @ CIN

Rice has a tough matchup as the Ravens are really unsure how to play this game.

While you have to start Ray with the confidence like a Top 5 RB, the truth is he can get only 50 Yards and ruin your season.

6. LESEAN MCCOY @ NYG

McCoy is not limited, and Michael Vick is back.

A vintage LeSean McCoy game is in the script, and his owners want to see it.

7. CHRIS JOHNSON VS. JAX

What do you know about CJ2K?

This guy can have a Sunday to remember for the ages, and there’s no reason he won’t bring it in the season Finale.

8. KNOWSHON MORENO VS. KC

Moreno will tear the Chiefs apart, as long as the Broncos let him.

The rib injury could easily be aggravated, so Moreno will have to get his early to ensure he was a great start.  He should get his early.

9. ALFRED MORRIS VS. DAL

Say what you want, this was not the next Terrell Davis.

Morris is a good RB in a good system, he should get his Sunday Night against a bad Cowboys defense.

10. MATT FORTE VS. DET

Forte will give it everything he’s got in a huge game to end his 2012.

Injuries slowed him down, and a bad offense that failed to score consistently.  This matchup should set him up with good opportunities.

11. DEMARCO MURRAY @ WAS

What was a roller coaster season, Murray has a chance to end it on a good note with a strong game against a Redskins defense that is ready for a shootout.  Murray needs to find the end zone for the Cowboys to win.

12. DOUG MARTIN @ ATL

Teach me how to Douggie hit a rookie wall because Josh Freeman was texting and driving.

Doug has all the talent to be in the BEAST category, but for now he is a risky play as the Bucs have been looking horrible.

13. REGGIE BUSH @ NE

Reggie needs a big game in Week 17 to close out the faith for all of his owners and his new contract.

Reggie wants to be a Dolphin, so beating the Patriots in New England would be a good way of getting what he wants.

14. BENJARVUS GREEN-ELLIS VS. BAL

The LawFirm has a case set for 12:00pm pacific time in the end zone.  Barring a horrific accident, he will meet you there.

GOOD

15. AHMAD BRADSHAW VS. PHI

Bradshaw can tear up the Eagles on a good day.  This is a Must-Win day, so expect Ahamd to be ready to go as there is not a tougher RB in the NFL.

16. DARREN SPROLES VS. CAR

Sproles will be getting touches all game long.

The Saints want to run up the score and end 2012 on a bang, using Sproles effectively will make that dream come true.

17. MARK INGRAM VS. CAR

Call it the sleeper of the Week.

Mark Ingram will get a full audition to close out the 2012 season with no Pierre Thomas.  Get Ingram in your lineups.

18. STEVAN RIDLEY VS. MIA

Riddle me an inconsistent RB to close out the season, and that is what Stevan Ridley is.

Fumbles were an issue to close out the season, and now his owners have to worry about another Patriot RB taking his production all season long.  Hopefully he can manage a TD for fun.

19. JAMAAL CHARLES @ DEN

Save the Cheerleader, save the world.

Charles knee looked great in 2012, no reason for the Chiefs to give it a sour ending heading into 2013.  Jamaal did everything he needed to do, this game has Peyton Hillis written all over it.

20. DEANGLO WILLIAMS VS. NO

D-Will got a gift from Jonathan Stewart to end this season.  With consecutive starts dating back for the last month, Williams has been a good low-end RB#2 who has been finding his way into the end zone more than his owners could dream of.

Not a bad last matchup if you want to roll the dice.

21. JACKIE BATTLE VS. OAK

Jackie don’t share my Battle.  Will have to do all he can early on to keep Ronnie Brown from taking his job.  Regardless, Jackie is up for the battle and he gives you a safe option that should find the end zone when the Raiders get close.

22. SHONN GREENE @ BUF

Greene Machine has the matchup he’s been waiting for since Week 1.  The Bills Run D will however be playing with more emotion this week, and this could be a blowout.  I would not start Greene with confidence, but the potential for a 2 TD game is possibly there.

23. MONTARIO HARDESTY @ PIT

Hardesty will get all the carries he can handle.  The Steelers will be playing tough, but can you say 30 carries.  Because it is possible.

24. MONTELL OWENS @ TEN

Montell Owens will have his last talk show of his career.  Unless he pulls off a miracle huge game against the Titans.  Chances are he will not, and chances are you were better off going in a different direction.  But the 20 carries will be there, and the potential for a TD has it’s best shot this week.

25. MIKEL LESHOURE VS. CHI

Leshoure closes out 2013 as a player who ruined the Lions.  When he became the RB for that team for Kevin Smith, the Lions offense lost all of it’s dynamic powers.  For now expect Mikel to be ready for his goal line TD.  Because that is the only thing that can save him.

26. STEVEN JACKSON @ SEA

Last game possibly forever for S-Jax.

He will go out as a hero, but a hero I would not trust in this tough matchup against the Seahawks in Seattle.  Hopefully he scores the TD.

RISKY

27. VICK BALLARD VS. HOU

Ballard is the man for the Colts, and Week 17 against the Texans is a good way to remind the Colts that he has what it takes.

Texans Run D has been good all season, but Ballard just gashed this team for one of his best performances of the Season in Week 15 getting over 100 Total Yards.

28. DARREN MCFADDEN @ SD

Run DMC has Terrelle Pryor as his QB.  That should say everything you need to know in what has been a terrible season for the always disappointing high-risk/medium-potential RB.  Darren McFadden will likely be a 2nd round Fantasy Pick at very best in 2013, he is a steal in the 3rd round.

29. MICHAEL TURNER VS. TB

Turner may be getting more rest than anything, but the Falcons fans would love to see one last huge effort from their RB before post-season begins.  For now that has to be their biggest fear is running the ball effectively enough to win.

30. RASHARD MENDENHALL VS. CLE

Mendy will look to regain the faith of the Steeler Nation with a big finale against the Browns.  Rashard has the tools to have a big game, he just has to put it all together.

31. FRANK GORE VS. ARI

The 49ers don’t need Gore to win this game, they need him to get healthy.  While he may get his carries, he will not be an effective runner against a good Cardinals defense.  I would not expect much.

32. PEYTON HILLIS @ DEN

The Chiefs wasted all that money on Peyton, now they want to see him give his old team hell.

He could have a legendary performance, or he could remind us that he is the worst player to ever be on the cover of Madden.  Broncos are playing for pride, I’m going with Terrible Cover player.

33. DAVID WILSON VS. PHI

Speed Kills.

But playing a limited role in a game where Ahmad Bradshaw will get all the carries.  Speed puts Wilson as a risky play.

34. JACQUIZZ RODGERS VS. TB

What never panned out.  Quizz may save his best act for last to conclude 2012.

Never a starter, and with Turner never getting injured, Quizz was a low-end RB#3 at very best all season.

35. JOIQUE BELL VS. CHI

Get your garbage time broom out.  Joique Bell will be most useful then, otherwise you’re just hoping he gets the ball in his sporadic playing time.

36. BEN TATE @ IND

Tate Rape really only occurred twice all season.  Both in Week 1 and 2, now that the Texans

37. BILAL POWELL @ BUF

Powell could run all over the Jets, but he could also be in a terrible blowout where the Jets really don’t stand a chance.  The Bills are coming out BIG.

38. JONATHAN DWYER @ CLE

Rashard Mendenhall will take more carries.  Dwyer may get his 8 touches around the end zone which would be huge.

39. BERNARD PIERCE @ CIN

Electric Eel.  Pierce will try to knock a 50 yard run to get your attention.

Do not trust him at this juncture of the season.

40. RICHARD MURPHY VS. TEN

If you’re starting Murphy, then you may be onto something because he is just as good as Montell Owens.  But then again, do you trust the running game for the Jaguars.  Guaranteed carries at least.

41. RONNIE BROWN VS. OAK

Brown could play some 3rd downs, but why trust a RB on San Diego that is not starting.  Ryan Mathews was garbage all season, Ronnie Brown would need a Jackie Battle injury to get enough action.

42. DANNY WOODHEAD VS. MIA

You never know what you’re going to get with Woodhead.  Some could say he is a…Box of Chocolates?

43. MIKE TOLBERT @ NO

The fattest RB in the league has the moves to get in the endzone.  The Saints do give up TDs, so there is a chance.  But there is also a chance he ruins your week if you go with him.

44. BEANIE WELLS @ SF

If it’s possible to get minus points in a Fantasy League as a starting RB.  Beanie Wells achieved that feat last week with less than 10 yards rushing, and a loss fumble.  He could continue the streak against the 49ers.

45. ALEX GREEN @ MIN

Green is going to play, but what do you really expect from Alex Green.  80 Yards and a TD?  In your wildest dream.

46. BRANDON BOLDEN VS. MIA

The TD Vulture for Ridley may be in action.  Don’t forget a ticket.

47. DARYL RICHARDSON @ SEA

The Future may get some good carries in garbage time as the Rams run out the clock to stop the slaughter.

48. BRYCE BROWN @ NYG

Two Week “Get You In The Playoffs Hero”

49. LA’ROD STEPHENS-HOWLING @ SF

Might play because the game is a blowout.

50. CHRISTOPHER IVORY VS. CAR

Could get zero carries as they watch Ingram.

  1. D/ST choice between SD or PIT. Does ranking reflect Richardson being out? Or still role with SD against Pryer?

  2. Either one seems like a good play this week, but San Diego is much more capable than Pittsburgh in terms of producing turnovers and scoring on defense.

  3. I’ve got Spiller, Lynch, and Foster. I’m rolling wi/your ranks Munt!

Any thoughts on TD-only formats in regard to these 3? I keep missing the mark.

  4. Muntz has all three as beasts with CJ ranked first. I like lynch and foster thinking both sea and hou playing for better playoff spots. Buf is talking about blowing up the coaching staff so it might lend for lack luster effort.

  5. I would go with Colston & Decker. I’m not a fan of Eli or his unit. They’ve also stunk it up the last couple of games.

If you really want to swing for the fences then Cruz always has a ton of upside, but I think it’s more likely that he comes in on the low side as he has the past two weeks.
