Marshawn Lynch is DOWN. This is the first time in 4 years since running BEAST DOME that my 1st Round RB, is now officially a BUST. Through the years I have navigated the RB/RB Strategy 1st/2nd Round like a true Expert, that no other Expert Site could even compete. Even with the Marshawn Injury I was so close to continuing the streak with having all VIPs avoid Jamaal Charles and Le’Veon Bell. With the RB/RB Strategy this season also came with getting depth, so many VIPs are sitting pretty with a combination of Chris Ivory/Latavius Murray/LeGarrette Blount/Darren McFadden/Jonathan Stewart, to go along with a likely DeMarco Murray.
This season that 1st Round streak is over.
Even when Marshawn Lynch returns next season for the Seattle Seahawks, or as early as Week 16. I will not promote BEAST MODE as my TOP BEAST RB, he probably will not even be Top 5 to be honest. The problem with Marshawn besides getting paid this offseason, and now being injured, comes down to one thing. The play calling. Ever since the Seahawks threw the ball on the 1 yard line against the Patriots in the Superbowl, the Seahawks have not been a run 1st team. In fact they are probably pass 1st/2nd, then run 3rd. Which is not a good fit for BEAST MODE. The addition, and HYPE of Thomas Rawls will certainly not go away as well even if he returns. Do not get me wrong, he is still a strong RB#2 in most cases.
I assumed heading into the season that the Seahawks would ride their new millionaire into the ground, and apparently all the years of hard hits started to add up and his body simply broke down. Heading into the 2014 season all the Expert Sites were crying for Christine Michael to be the guy, heading into the 2015 season all the Experts threw Marshawn Lynch Top 3 Overall. You could not look at a DraftRoom online ESPN/Yahoo/CBS, and not see Lynch among the Top 3 names. It was also probably the first year of my #1 RB was not controversial.
It was a good run for Marshawn, but now Lynch finds himself with Steve Smith Sr. and Arian Foster. Hall of Fame members of BEAST DOME, and their jersey’s officially retired.
In many ways, people always associated the Purple BEAST with Marshawn Lynch. In many ways, so did I.
