Fantasy Football: Passin’ The Blount (Preseason Week 2)

Fantasy Football:

Passin’ The Blount (Preseason Week 2)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

A lot of you did not have time to watch Pre-Season Week 2.  Well I managed the time to watch every single one of them, and here is what I learned from a fantasy football perspective.  NEW DRAFT GUIDE COMING OUT TONIGHT W/ NEW RANKINGS!

If you missed my PreSeason Week 1 recap, you can read it here.

RYAN WILLIAMS LOOKED GOOD, STILL BEANIE’S TEAM

Take it for what it is, but Ryan Williams ran with a lot of anger through an aggressive Oakland defensive line.  Beanie Wells is expected to start this Thursday, and the coaching staff has already told us that Beanie’s knees are more than fine and there is no concern.  We will let Thursday be the real judge.

DEZ BRYANT HAS KNEE TENDINITIS

He is still expected to play Week 1, but a WR with knee tendinitis does not sound good at all on paper.  Dez is still young, but who knows when he will have to be pulled early from a game.  Between him and Miles Austin with ailing injuries, the Cowboys are not looking like a playoff team.

DAVID WILSON IS GOING TO EAT INTO BRADSHAW’S PT

Bradshaw left the last pre-season game with a hand contusion.  David Wilson came in and stole the show right away looking more electric than ever.  Bradshaw may be the starter, but one injury to Ahamd during the regular season and that seat will be swipped right underneath him.  To start the season I expect Wilson to be involved.

MIKE VICK CONTINUES TO GET BEAT UP

I mentioned in the last pre-season article that it will be hard for him to stay healthy because of his tough schedule.  Now he is getting beat up by the New England Patriots.  The injuries are piling up in the pre-season, and I would stay away.  Nick Foles is a solid backup QB who can still get the numbers if needed.

MIKE WALLACE/DWAYNE BOWE/MAURICE JONES-DREW ARE GOING TO SHOW UP

All lost some value besides Bowe.  MJD can be had in round 2 now, I would snag him.

AUSTIN COLLIE HAS A CONCUSSION, REGGIE WAYNE’S STOCK RISES

Collie keeps suffering concussions which could mean the end to his career.  Reggie Wayne was featured in the Colts offense and had 9 first half targets.  Reggie has more than enough to put up a 1,000+ Yard 10 TD season.  Target him.

LEGARRETTE BLOUNT GOT INJURED

Was carted off the field, only to have a sore knee.  The coaching staff is already making Ray Rice comparisons to Doug Martin.  Do you think Ray Rice would sit behind the fat LeGarrette Blount?  Blount is quickly turning into Ron Dayne.

PACKERS DEFENSE IS STILL PRONE TO BIG GAMES

To allow Brandon Weeden the starting QB of the Cleveland Browns throw for over 100 Yards in the 1st half, and Montario Hardesty to run for a TD.  Enough of the Packer jokes, this team will live and die off of Defensive TDs.

MATT RYAN WILL REACH THE NEXT LEVEL THIS SEASON

Simply because Michel Turner is done, and Julio Jones is the next super star in the NFL.  Roddy White will be the best #2 WR in the game.  Things are just playing out for a HUGE breakout season.

JACQUIZZ RODGERS WILL BE THE STARTING RB SOONER THAN YOU THINK

Micahel Turner has been noted as, looking slower by the coaching staff.  3 carries for minus 3 yards, and the Falcons are moving to a vertical offense.  JacQuizz fits this system.

CHRIS JOHNSON IS SAFE THIS SEASON

Yes it is the pre-season, but to see him score 2 TDs is very encouraging.  Jake Locker also moves the ball much better than Hasselebeck does.  CJ should return to 1.5K form.  2K version may never come back, Jeff Fisher was too key for that to happen.  He is now the coach for the Rams “Steven Jackson.”

FRED JACKSON IS WELL AHEAD OF C.J. SPILLER

Fred Jackson looks like the starter, Spiller looks like a player who can fail to produce any yards.  Although Jackson is the clear starter, Spiller is a good handcuff that you can get later on.

MEGATRON IS UNGUARDABLE

If you draft Calvin Johnson, you must draft Titus Young and Brandon Pettigrew.  Teams will be doubling Calvin leaving other options one-on-one to beat them.  If you draft Calvin Johnson, take a look at this article.

CAROLINA RB SITUATION IS A MESS

DeAnglo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Mike Tolbert are too good to not all touch the ball more than a few times a game.  Chances are you will start the wrong option.  I would avoid this situation as they are all capable of being 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and goal line backs.

SAINTS COULD HAVE THE WORST DEFENSE IN THE NFL

To allow Blaine Gabbert to have a better QB rating than Drew Brees is ridiculous.  Two TDs in the first half with over 160 Yards, and Rashard Jennings for 62 Yards in the 1st half.  Jennings is good, but Saints defense is terrible.

PEYTON MANNING SPREAD THE BALL OUT

No option is really a WR#2 on their team.  Nobody will be consistent enough to trust, Decker and Thomas are high-end WR#3s.  Lance Ball led the Broncos in receptions with 4.  Manning played the whole 1st half.

MALCOM FLOYD IS A GOOD SLEEPER FOR 1,000 YARDS

Floyd was on pace for a ridiculous season the year Vincent Jackson held out for a majority of the season.  He was good for about 70 Yards and a TD a game, and if he can get to that pace again he would be a huge steal.  Teams will be doubling Antonio Gates, and Meachem is way overvalued this season. Terrible Pre-Season.

DANNY AMENDOLA MAKING CASE FOR #1 WR IN STL

Steve Smith is not stepping up, Danny Amendola will be the go-to-guy as he already has had success with Sam Bradford when Sammy was a rookie.  Amendola is a great sleeper in PPR leagues he had 85 receptions two years ago.

PEYTON HILLIS IS THE JAMAAL CHARLES KILLER

Fantasy Football is all about TDs.  To watch Hillis come into the game when the Chiefs enter the red zone makes Charles a very frustrating candidate to own.

TEXANS ARE DANGEROUS

They made the SF defense look like a joke.  With the Texans having the easiest schedule in the NFL, Ben Tate is a great backup RB to target in case anything happens to Foster.  Tate would be a top 5 RB!

ANTONIO BROWN IS THE STEELERS #1 WR

Mike Wallace away from camp gives Brown a huge advantage to learn the Todd Haley offense as the #1 WR.  Brown got extra reps with Big Ben, which will lead to Big Ben trusting Brown since they practice together the most.

MICHAEL BUSH REMINDING EVERYONE WHY HE WILL KILL FORTE THIS SEASON

The goal line TDs are coming in bunches for Bush.  Forte will not go more than three games in a row without losing at least one TD to Bush this season.  He is not only a must handcuff if you own Forte, but he is a player I would

JAKE LOCKER IS STARTER

What that means is his man crush Nate Washington will be a great sleeper this season.  Locker loves Nate, and we should see this connection be one of the bigger surprises of the season.

JOHN SKELTON SHOULD BE NAMED STARTER

If the Cardinals want to go with a HS QB, Kevin Kolb will be the starter.  Looks like Skelton is their man moving forward as he was pulled after throwing a TD.  Larry Fitzgerald owners can breathe again.
