First. Let Me Take A Selvie

IDP DL RANKINGS (2014)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Last season was a disappointing one from a FantasyPros perspective.

It was tough for the BEAST DOME NATION to watch as ‘Muntradamus’ fell lower and lower in the Rankings each week.  The glimmer of high hopes from my Rookie 2012 season was fading away.

I want you to know that last season I had over 741 paying (BEAST SEASON) Clients during the 2013 Fantasy Football Season.  There were multiple weeks I was not able to set my Rankings on FantasyPros.  There were weeks I was not able to make changes to my Daily Fantasy Teams at the final moment.

Sunday Mornings were a zoo.

Last season was all about the VIPs.  The numbers speak for themselves this off-season.

While all of the above are excuses.  This season I have completely re-formatted my VIP packages so I will have the time and space to BEAST this season on FANTASYPROS and all other compeitions without any other distractions.

Be Ready for The Noise.

FANTASY FOOTBALL:

DL RANKINGS (2014)

#1

J.J. WATT – HOU

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

80 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 6 FF. 3 FR. 1 TD

What more can you ask for from a Defensive Lineman in an IDP League?  J.J. Swatt is a MACHINE who penetrates the middle of any and every offensive line.  It is too early to say Watt will be in the Hall of Fame, but it looks like a sure thing if he continues to play at this rate.  Who cares what he did last year, the Texans are going to be playing winning football in 2014.

 #2

DEMARCUS WARE – DEN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

64 Tackles. 17 Sacks. 6 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

DeMarcus Ware is easily one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.  His Speed and Power are unmatched. Now playing for a Denver Broncos Defense that will be facing undermatched teams in comeback mode, D-Ware will be a Sack Machine this season, easy 15 sacks.

#3

JARED ALLEN – CHI

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

64 Tackles. 16 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

The star from Minnesota moves to a NFC North rival in Chicago.  Jared Allen will be excited to be playing for a contender again and you should expect him to have a MONSTER season.  With Lamarr Houston on one side, and an aggressive group of blitzing Linebackers.  It will be hard to double team Jared Allen often this season, giving him lots of opportunities for that big play.  Easy 13 Sacks for Allen this season.

 #4

MARIO WILLIAMS – BUF

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

54 Tackles. 15 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR. 1 TD

It’s Super Mario’s world.  We’re just living in it.

Health has been a factor for Mario Williams since joining the Bills two seasons ago.  Nonetheless, Mario is easily one of the best DLs in the NFL.  He was the staple of the Texans Defense during all of those seasons of Fantasy Dominance.  Look for Mario to come out like a BEAST this season and remind everyone how amazing the former #1 Overall Pick in the Texans Franchise can be.  Always a threat to lead the NFL in Sacks.

 #5

CAMERON WAKE – MIA

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

70 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR. 2 INT. 2 TD

Wake could be the best defensive player in the NFL.  Wake is half DL/half LB.  He will cover TEs when you least expect it. He will rush the passer with sexy moves that leave Offensive Linemen in the dust.  He tracks down the screen passes and all stretch runs.  Cameron Wake is a BEAST play maker on a small market team.

 #6

CHANDLER JONES – NE

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

64 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

The Chandy Man.

Chandler Jones haunted other teams’ Offensive linemen being a constant threat to make a big play.  Chandler Jones is one of the best Young DE’s in the game and you can depend on him to get to the QB nearly every game.  Always a good DE to depend on as he can blow up with those huge 1 Sack/1 Forced Fumble/ Fumble Recovery/ 1 TD lines at any moment.

#7

GERALD MCCOY – TB

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

65 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

Gerald McCoy finally developed into the total package in 2013.  Looking like a candidate for 4+ Tackles with a Sack every game, it is important to draft Gerald McCoy if you need a DT or a good value when the stars are off the board.  McCoy is a poor man’s J.J. Watt.

#8

NDAMUKONG SUH – DET

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

65 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

Suh is in a contract year and is easily one of the most talented DTs in the game today.  He is getting bad media hype with his immature plays, but his raw talent is too good to ignore.  Call him the 2014 Yasiel Puig of Fantasy Football.  If he keeps his head in the game, the sky is the limit.

#9

CHARLES JOHNSON – CAR

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

50 Tackles. 14 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Charles Johnson is one of the best pass rushers in the game.  A player who is always a threat for 14+ Sacks every year, Johnson and Hardy easily make the best 1-2 pass rushing punch in the NFL.  Grab Charles Johnson with confidence heading into the 2014 season.  The Panthers are going to be a tight, hard-hitting defensive unit, limiting opposing Offenses to very few points.

#10

GREG HARDY – CAR

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

45 Tackles. 14 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

Hardy is the type of pass rusher you do not want to meet in a dark alley.  With the benefit of Charles Johnson on one side, Hardy’s BIG Hybrid DT body with DE speed makes him unstoppable.  Hardy is a threat for a highlight play and a sack every week.  Draft him with confidence.

#11

CALAIS CAMPBELL – ARI

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

45 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 2 FF. 2 FR.

Calais is a BEAST.  The Cardinals will need him to carry a lot of weight with Darly Washington suspended for the season.  Calais can handle the load and the pressure to make it happen.  Draft Calais as a safe player to get 10 Sacks.  Power/Speed/Size is not a problem for the BEAST from the West.

#12

CAMERON JORDAN – NOS

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

55 Tackles. 13 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

Cameron Jordan is everything for the Saints pass rush.  He is an easy candidate for double digit sacks as well as stopping the running game often.  Jordan, who looks more like a DT with his size, has the speed of a great pass rusher.  Look for Super Cam to have an ELITE season for the Saints.  Especially as teams go in pass mode to try to keep up with the Saints scoring.

#13

CHRIS LONG – STL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

55 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Chris Long should get an automatic 12 sacks every season.  Last year, defenses tried to over-emphasize shutting him down, which led to a very nice 19 Sacks for Quinn.  Long will bounce back this season, he is a Superstar and Superstars always bounce back.  Having Howie Long as a veteran hall of fame DE father has to help somehow in a situation like this.

#14

ROBERT QUINN – STL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

45 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 2 FF. 2 FR.

19 Sacks.  Robert Quinn made lots of unexpected noise after defenses did their part in slowing down Chris Long all season.  Robert Quinn is a Power/Finesse pass rusher.  The Rams are going to be depending on him to create pressure if offenses once again choose to restrict Chris Long.

#15

MUHAMMAD WILKERSON – NYJ

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

40 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 2 FF. 2 FR.

Wilky found his game after two disappointing seasons in the NFL.

Wilkerson is a powerful DE that dominates matchups more with POWER than finesse.  No matter how he does it, 10+ Sacks is a realistic expectation as the Jets will depend on him to be the anchor to create BIG Plays.

#16

JASON PIERRE-PAUL – NYG

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 13 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

JPP is going to bounce back in 2014.  With Justin Tuck no longer in town, JPP will really carry the title as the STAR pass rusher for the Giants.  He will thrive in the role, stepping up to overcome the 2013 injuries that slowed him down.  Last preseason JPP was a Top 5 DL, he is still young at only 25.

#17

CLIFF AVRIL – SEA

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

39 Tackles. 12 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR. 1 TD

Avril is the heart and soul of the Seahawks pass rush.  You can always depend on Cliff to do his part in games that are completely lopsided.  Cliff will be a BEAST all season long for the Seahawks.  11 Sacks can be written down before Week 1 begins.

#18

ZIGGY ANSAH – DET

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

30 Tackles. 13 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Ziggyyy came up with a big, surprising, under the radar 8 sack season as a Rookie.  Having defenses focus on Suh and Fairley does help, but 8 Sacks is amazing for a rookie.  Look for Ansah to be the Answer to your easy sleeper choice if other people in your league think it was a fluke.  Ziggy has real skills that should continue to develop and lead to a promising career.

#19

ROB NINKOVICH – NE

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

72 Tackles. 6 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Ninkovich is a great IDP player because of his tackle/sack totals.  The 8 Sacks are nice for DL, but the 90 Tackles is legendary.  Look for Ninkovich to be all over the field this season and rack up at least 80 Tackles and 7 Sacks.  Big season coming.

#20

LAMARR WOODLEY – OAK

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

65 Tackles. 8 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 2 INT.

Woodley going to the Raiders is a nice fit.  Lamarr will be his hybrid DE/LB self for a revitalized Raiders defense.  The Raiders are now stacked with nice names all around their defensive unit.  In Oakland, Woodley looks to regain his form from his Steeler Superbowl days.  A poor man’s Cameron Wake.

#21

JUSTIN TUCK – OAK

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

39 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR. 1 TD

The 89 Funniest Sports GIFs Of 2013

Tuck just had to get out of New York.  The vibe for that entire football team was one to avoid in Fantasy.  Going to Oakland will revitalize the shredder.  Tuck is a Sack Monster Machine, you can expect him to bring it.  Justin has a 13 sack season left in the tank.

 #22

JASON HATCHER – WAS

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Hatcher is the best pass rusher the Redskins have.  With the likelihood of the Redskins turning into a shootout football team, you can depend on Hatcher to get even more opportunities this season to build on his 10+ Sacks.  Hatcher has a great combination of size/speed/power to be a force all season long.

#23

LAMARR HOUSTON – CHI

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Houston was a great signing for the Bears.  Lamarr is easily a candidate for 10+ Sacks right out of the gate for Chicago as he will be in a very aggressive defense and rushing across from Jared Allen.  Even on the Raiders, Houston was able to standout as an IDP option.  His situation got a lot sweeter.

#24

JERRY HUGHES – BUF

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Hughes is going to have a very nice 10+ Sack season.  Playing across from Mario Williams is already one huge advantage.  When people are saying he is unblockable during camps.  That is another reason to expect big things.

#25

GEORGE SELVIE – DAL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 2 FF. 2 FR.

Selvie will need to be big for the Cowboys defense this season.  With no Sean Lee, it is important that Dallas controls the line of scrimmage on defense.  Chances are they will not, but nonetheless, Selvie gives them hope,  and ‘Let me take a Selvie’ will definitely be the best way to trash talk your opponent all season if he gets a Sack in your matchup.

#26

MIKE DANIELS – GB

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Daniels is the best pass rusher the Packers have on the defensive line.  Green Bay started playing Daniels more towards the end of the 2013 season, and right away the potential 10+ Sacks was seen by everyone.  A full season in Capers’ Defense for Daniels can mean BIG things.

#27

MARCELL DAREUS – BUF

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Dareus is a run stopping DT who also knows how to get to the QB.  Dareus is a threat for 10 Sacks and 60+ Tackles which makes him very valuable heading into this season.  Especially in leagues requiring you to play a DT.

#28

DARNELL DOCKETT – ARI

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

34 Tackles. 9 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Darnell Dockett is really one of the best DL players in the game.  Last season he had 3 Sacks in 1 game before injuring his groin.  He toughed out the 2013 season but was nothing like we all know he can be.  Darnell is back healthy for 2014. Look for him to remind us how much this guy can stuff the stat sheet.

 #29

CARLOS DUNLAP – CIN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

29 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 1 FF. 1 FR.

Dunlap is a good DE that stops the run as well as rushes the pass.  But coming off of a two concussion season is something to be worried about.  Dunlap is a poor man’s Cameron Wake. He makes for good depth rather than a must-start fixture.

#30

NICK FAIRLEY – DET

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

45 Tackles. 8.5 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Fairley vs. Suh…what an epic chest bump

Fairley would be getting a lot more hype if Suh did not steal all of his thunder.  Fairley is easily one of the top DT’s in the game today.  Health has always limited Fairley from being his true BEAST self, but look for an upgrade this season as he is 100% healthy going into day 1.

#31

MICHAEL JOHNSON – TB

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

31 Tackles. 11 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Johnson finds his ways to get sacks.  The Bucs depend on Michael to create the pressure from the outside which allows McCoy to rack up all of his numbers.  Look for M.J. to have a good impact season as he approaches 10 Sacks for the Blitz aggressive Bucs.

#32

OLIVIER VERNON – MIA

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

33 Tackles. 10 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Vernon was a BEAST last season with over 11 Sacks.  Miami depends on Vernon to be a pass rushing force on one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.  Vernon is no fluke and he should repeat his 10+ Sack numbers again.

#33

ADRIAN CLAYBORN – TB

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

39 Tackles. 9 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Adrian Clayborn is starting to develop into the superstar we know he can be.  A-Clay can rush the passer and has one of the best DL bodies in the league.  Draft Clayborn with confidence this season as he should be able to bring home double digit sacks.

 #34

JURRELL CASEY – TEN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

30 Tackles. 8 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

One of the many breakout players of last season ended up with 10.5 Sacks.

There is no doubt Casey has skill, but a player of his caliber has to have a repeat season before you can invest a Draft Day pick on the young stud.  The potential is there, however we have seen too many DL players have only one season of fantasy relevance.

#35

JULIUS PEPPERS – GB

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

31 Tackles. 8 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Nobody gives Julius Peppers enough credit.  He is turning 34 Years Old, but leaving for GB could easily give him the next boost in his career.  Playing more OLB than DE this season is another thing to be excited about.  Do not count out JP early.

#36

JEREMY MINCEY – DAL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

31 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Mincey was a stud for the Jaguars a few years ago.  You can always count on a potential double digit sack season, and you can expect him to bring that this year for the Cowboys.  Playing in Dallas is nearly every NFL player’s dream, and Mincey will need to return to form for Dallas to win some games.

#37

BRIAN ROBINSON – MIN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

29 Tackles. 8 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Robinson will be missing Jared Allen this season.  Now B-Rob takes over the role as the defensive anchor to pump up the crowd.  Robinson is a talented pass rusher, but he was much better with Jared Allen demanding double teams.

 #38

GENO ATKINS – CIN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

56 Tackles. 5 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Atkins is a BEAST in the middle.  The reason the Bengals statistically have one of the best run defenses in the NFL nearly every season.  Geno Atkins is that reason why.  Geno slows up every play and avoiding him will turn into a 2 yard gain.  Geno is more valuable as a REAL player than a Fantasy commodity.  He will get his 5+ Sack numbers on the season, but nothing too impressive.

#39

RANDY STARKS – MIA

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

55 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Starks is a clogstopper DT.  Starks is the type of player that is better in Real NFL than Fantasy Football.  You do not draft Randy Starks for his Sacks, you draft him for his his potential 5+ Tackle games.  Running Backs do not stand a chance once Starks gets in their way.

#40

JUSTIN SMITH – SF

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

56 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Smith is more of a good DE than a Sackmaster.  He does not get to the QB, but he does defend the run.  Not a lot of exciting things to say about Justin Smith besides being a physical DE who is coming off of Shoulder Surgery. He should get all the snaps he can handle and be good for 4 tackles and the occasional sack.

#41

SHELDON RICHARDSON – NYJ

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

The Rookie of the year will look to improve upon his 3 sack season.  Sheldon is a great talent and could be ready to make one of the best DL combos with Wilkerson.  Too early to say if he is an IDP Beast with his lack of sack ability, but something tells me he takes a big step forward and comes closer to 10.

#42

EVERSON GRIFFIN – MIN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

31 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

With Jared Allen skipping town, Everson Griffin will be thrusted into the DE role we knew he was capable of, making his presence felt every down. Griffin is a great pass rusher and should bring instant results for the Vikings.  Not Jared Allen numbers, but 8 sacks should be easy.

 #43

COREY LIUGET – SD

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

29 Tackles. 7.5 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Not a very good player.  The Chargers need him to be a Sackmaster. Need is a strong word, and I would not count on Corey to deliver.  You can draft Liuget for his potential as the only Charger on the D-Line to have any fantasy value.

 #44

DEREK WOLFE – DEN

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

30 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Wolfe could have a very nice 10 Sack season if he gets consistent playing time across from DeMarcus Ware.  Wolfe is a tough, all power DE who will get his way against a weak offensive lineman.  Especially when all the help is focused on shutting down Ware and Miller.

#45

OSI UMENYIORA – ATL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 8 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Osi is the most important piece of this Falcons defense.  Osi is always a threat to have a big week, but swirling reports are saying only 25-35 snaps per game this season.  We’ll see how long that lasts after a few big games.

#46

KYLE WILLIAMS – BUF

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

45 Tackles. 6 Sacks. 3 FF. 2 FR.

Big DT who is good at stopping the run.  Kyle Williams fills out this top notch DL for the Bills.  Not a big Fantasy guy, but he will get his his occasional 5 Tackles/1 Sack game.

#47

CAMERON HEYWARD – PIT

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

36 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 2 FF.

Heyward is now in his 2nd full season as an everyday player.  The former 2011 1st round Pick is looking special for the Steelers, and you can expect him to take the steps to be a guy who can get 7 sacks this season.

#48

CHRIS CANTY – BAL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

29 Tackles. 7 Sacks. 3 FF. 1 FR.

Canty is a solid speed/athletic pass rusher.  He never has put up big numbers, but the talent always appears to be there when you watch him.  10 Sacks could happen, but the baby step at this point would be 8.  Do not draft Canty with overly high expectations.

#49

TYSON JACKSON – ATL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 6 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

The Falcons are going to need Tyson Jackson to be a big playmaker.  Good at stopping the run and the pass, Tyson Jackson can always give you a random day of Fantasy Gold.  Only for the desperate at this point.

#50

HALOTI NGATA – BAL

2014 MUNTRADAMUS PREDICTION:

35 Tackles. 3 Sacks. 2 FF. 1 FR.

Ngata makes this list more on a ceremonial level than anything.  Not a great fantasy player, but easily one of the best run stoppers in the NFL.  Last season he came into Week 1 recovering from offseason knee surgery from a torn ACL.  He never looked the same.

  1. Such a tough crew to gauge since so much damage can happen in the trenches. High on a lot of these guys, not so on others. One guy who didn’t make the list who I think (and hope) will have a break-out year is Akiem Hicks. Will face lots of one on ones in his second year in Ryan’s defence thanks fo Jordan’s presence and has the size and speed to put up big all around numbers. Maybe an honorable mention, Munt?

  2. Yes! I’m so stoked to have our first ranking article from Munt even though I don’t even play in an IDP league. Your insights are invaluable & I know you will BEAST fantasypros this year. Keep up the good work Munt!

  3. I’m still sitting on Margus Hunt as a sleeper dynasty pick down the line, but I’m dropping Dion Jordan for McCoy and Suh right now.

    Thanks MUNT!!!
