FANTASY FOOTBALL HAIKU: VERG3 Of Change (Week 4)

FANTASY FOOTBALL HAIKU:

VERG3 Of Change (Week 4)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

We are now a quarter through the 2013 regular season.  Many people who followed the Draft Strategy are doing fine, except one question remains on a lot of people’s mind.  What to do with Montee Ball?

LET ME REMIND YOU OF THE ONE THING I PREACH

It does not matter what your regular season record is, as long as you make the playoffs.

You could be 14-0, and lose in the 1st Round of the Playoffs.

You could be 7-7 and win the entire thing.

It is all about getting hot at the right time, just like in real sports.

Here is a Fantasy Baseball Testimonial to show you exactly what I am talking about.

Munt,

I wanted to thank you for a great year in Fantasy Baseball!!! Your time, patience, great calls, trade advice and availability to answer my many questions though out the long season was very much appreciated. Did I win the championship? No…more on that later, but I was able to take home half the prize by winning the season.

Autodraft day was interesting I manipulated ESPN’s rankings to yours so when I woke up the next morning, I had the Team I wanted. I was testing my own strategy to draft Batters and RP saving all SP to the last 5 players picked up. The plan was to use your daily articles to Stream Pitchers all season (Too many great waiver wire pitchers where everyone was laughing at me at first, but then I was one the laughing in the end).

The strategy was flawless up until Championship Week. The Team was 18-1-3 all season, 2-1 in the playoffs. My batters from Draft Day, with a few minor pick ups for the season were 1st in R (50 above 2nd) HR’s (75 above 2nd), RBI’s (160 above 2nd) and SB (60 above 2nd).

Championship

Then the injuries started….ouch…then Teams started resting players…double ouch. With my plan to Stream pitching I left very little to compensate for half my team either injured or sitting.  It started in the Semi’s, your Daily rankings pulled me through to the Championship but I was limping going in. First Rosario, then Segura, Hanley Ramirez, Cespedes, A-Rod, Ellsbury, McCann (Rosario’s replacement). Even with the team depleted I still had a shot on Sunday. It was close I lost 6-4…it was a great run, enjoyed the year. I’m very much looking forward to joining the VIP next year.

Bottom line is this..If you can afford to keep Montee on your bench.  Stash him.  The second he gets ample PT with a Knowshon Moreno knee injury, he becomes a dynamic RB who can score 2 TDs a game easily.  He is getting the rushing yards even when teams know he is getting the ball in garbage time, just imagine how good he will be when he is the every down RB.  Ronnie Hillman is too small to take more than 10 carries.  The potential to win your league is still in his legs, and the back-to-back knee surgery legs of Moreno.

ROTOCHATER RANKINGS (WEEK 4)

#1 Overall

#1 QB

#2 RB

#1 WR

#2 TE

#4 Kicker

#1 D/ST

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 4 HAIKU

AFC

NEW YORK JETS

GENO SMITH is impressingly getting nice passing yards.

BILAL POWELL has the RB Job for the Jets and is a low-end RB #2 value.

SANTONIO HOLMES could not get anything done against the tough Tennessee secondary.

KELLEN WINSLOW has been inconsistent but did see a team leading 9 targets.

NYJ D/ST continues to get it done, they are the new Pittsburgh Steelers. Turnovers from Geno put them in bad position.

MIAMI DOLPHINS

RYAN TANNEHILL was out played by the crowd.

LAMAR MILLER separated himself from Daniel Thomas, the ball is in his court.

DANIEL THOMAS can be waived.

MIKE WALLACE could not get behind the Saints defense.

BRIAN HARTLINE was worthless.

CHARLES CLAY continues to have a solid season.

MIA D/ST could not do a thing with Wake injured, and Drew Brees playing.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

TOM BRADY is going to BEAST when he gets Gronk/Amendola back.

LEGARRETTE BLOUNT is making Ridley worthless, Blount has nothing more than RB#3 value.

STEVAN RIDLEY did enough to keep Blount as his immediate backup.

BRANDON BOLDEN can be waived.

KENBRELL THOMPKINS showed his inner Ocho Cinco.

JULIAN EDELMAN will be nothing when Gronk/Amendola return.

NE D/ST stepped it up at the very end in real life, but not fantasy.

BUFFALO BILLS

EJ MANUEL looks hardly like a reliable fantasy QB this season.  The upside is there for greater things, he just needs to run more.

CJ SPILLER was a stolen F-Jax TD away from a big Fantasy day.  His value continues to drop as F-Jax continues to look better.

FRED JACKSON is looking like his 2010 version.  While this is all great, you can sell him for something very nice.

STEVIE JOHNSON goes as far as EJ takes him.

ROBERT WOODS stole the TD and the targets, he is a week-to-week kind of guy.

SCOTT CHANDLER is a TD or nothing TE.

BILLS D/ST created turnovers like it was the 2002 Bills.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

BEN ROETHLISBERGER had a big Sunday, his two turnovers made it less thrilling.

LE’VEON BELL showed the steps it takes to be the next big thing at RB.

ANTONIO BROWN saw a team high 13 targets, missed out on the TD.

JERRICHO COTCHERY stole the show, hard to say that was nothing more than a fluke.

HEATH MILLER had a solid 70 Yards, the TD is what really makes his day.

PIT D/ST is getting overworked.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

BRIAN HOYER is the real deal.  I would consider him a Top 20 QB.

WILLIS MCGAHEE is going to be the cowbell RB.  Add him in all leagues.

JOSH GORDON is trued by Hoyer, that is all you can ask for. Tough week that’s all.

JORDAN CAMERON is a BEAST and the Hoyer/Cameron connection is one not to forget.

CLE D/ST shut down the Bengals offense.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

ANDY DALTON could not get anything with AJ Green getting manhandled by Joe Haden.

GIOVANI BERNARD could not break the tackles of the hard hitting Browns.

BENJARVUS GREEN-ELLIS is turning into an afterthought, as expected.

AJ GREEN had 15 targets, but Joe Haden was the wrong corner to pick on as only 7 were completed.

JERMAINE GRESHAM/TYLER EIFERT are completely dead even for TE, neither are sexy picks.

CIN D/ST was less than impressive with a lot of injuries in secondary.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

JOE FLACCO. The pass attempts will keep coming as long as the running game keeps struggling.

RAY RICE was a joke against the Bills, he is an ultimate Buy Low as his value will not be any lower than this.

BERNARD PIERCE remains a handcuff, and nothing more than a very deep Flex option.

TORREY SMITH was inches away from breaking a tackle for a 2nd huge TD.  Big Fantasy Day.

MARLON BROWN continues to be a threat in the passing game, just a little inconsistent.

DALLAS CLARK is looking very slow.

BAL D/ST barely held their ground.

HOUSTON TEXANS

MATT SCHAUB was doing the impossible, having an amazing game against Seattle’s Secondary.  Before a horrible throw at the end of the game.

ARIAN FOSTER is back to BEAST MODE.

BEN TATE is back to bench.

ANDRE JOHNSON was making plays against Seattle all day.

DEANDRE HOPKINS went back to showing why he is not on superstar level with a health Johnson.

OWEN DANIELS had another TD vultured by Garrett Graham. Owners cannot take it.

HOU D/ST was good outside of the fact that Wilson scrambled all over them.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

BLAINE GABBERT should not be a starting QB.

MAURICE JONES-DREW needs Chad Henne for success.

CECIL SHORTS needs Chad Henne for success.

JAX D/ST is on the field too often with how bad their offense is.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

ANDREW LUCK could have done better.  His potential is among the best in the league.

TRENT RICHARDSON had a rough day, the 60 Yards/TD is not enough from him.

REGGIE WAYNE continues to own the Jaguars.

COBY FLEENER is a solid TE #1 with Dwayne Allen out for the season.

DHB/HILTON eat eachothers value too much.

IND D/ST stepped it up in a great matchup.

TENNESSEE TITANS

JAKE LOCKER being out 4-8 Weeks is not a good thing, he was looking great.

CJ2K is having problems, great time to Buy Low.

JACKIE BATTLE outperformed CJ2K, Greene could be back next week to spoil his fun.

NATE WASHINGTON is taking over.  Waiver Wire pick from last week.

KENDALL WRIGHT is the new #2 for the Titans.

KENNY BRITT no longer exists, he needs to be traded.

DELAINE WALKER is not getting enough targets, did get TD.

TEN D/ST remains a strong unit.

OAKLAND RAIDERS

TERRELLE PYROR will be back next week.

RASHAD JENNINGS will get the start for the Raiders next week, he definitely lost a step since 2011.

DARREN MCFADDEN/MARCEL REECE both got injured. Heartbreak.

DENARIUS MOORE is still going to get his, Pryor will help.

MYCHAL RIVERA is a sleeper TE who is a TD or nothing type of player.

OAK D/ST held it together until the 2nd half.

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

PHILIP RIVERS killed the Cowboys with 400+ Yards.

RYAN MATHEWS got his touches, he needs to find the endzone.

DANNY WOODHEAD continues to get his 10 Touches, he is a nice unreliable sleeper from week-to-week.

VINCENT BROWN got his 9 targets, step in the right direction.

KENNAN ALLEN had a nice 80 Yard game to make things complicated for their entire WR core.

ANTONIO GATES is the man for Rivers. BEAST DOME ranked him higher than any site.

SD D/ST did a good job of being average, which is good in their eyes.

DENVER BRONCOS

PEYTON MANNING is a BEAST.

KNOWSHON MORENO has a firm hold of the job with the Montee fumbles from earlier.

RONNIE HILLMAN is getting the touches now.

MONTEE BALL, read above. No doubt the potential is still there.

DEMARYIUS THOMAS beasted with 2 TDs.  He is a BEAST that should be treated on a Megatron level, and try to get Megatron for him.

WES WELKER is the saftey valve Peyton has never had before.

ERIC DECKER continues to be a threat with great matchups.

JULIUS THOMAS went 4/4 on his targets.

DEN D/ST killed the Eagles. Great unit.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

ALEX SMITH had his breakout 3 TD game.  Won’t happen often.

JAMAAL CHARLES is a BEAST and is always a Top 4 RB. Even in passing game with a team leading 11 Targets.

DWYANE BOWE salvaged his day with a late TD, but did see less targets than Donnie Avery.

DONNIE AVERY is still not worth being owned.

KC D/ST got to Eli early and often.

NFC

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

MICHAEL VICK was a mess.  Broncos defense handled him.

LESEAN MCCOY was on the bench on the only TD drive for their offense.

DESEAN JACKSON could not get behind the secondary.

JASON AVANT struggled with Vick and his struggles, 4 Targets (6 Leaders) was third on the team as Vick had no idea what he was doing.

BRENT CELEK stepped it up with an average game of 5 Points.

PHI D/ST had no answer to Peyton.

DALLAS COWBOYS

TONY ROMO did not do enough damage through the air.

DEMARCO MURRAY did not do enough damage on the ground.

DEZ BRYANT was a BEAST who could not be stopped with 2 TDs.

TERRANCE WILLIAMS will have his moments when Miles Austin is out, who should be back next week.

JASON WITTEN had 10 targets, did nothing with them.

DAL D/ST was horrible against Rivers.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

RG3 has fallen out of the picture.

ALFRED MORRIS should be back after the Redskins bye.

ROY HELU JR. showed his potential, which will hurt Morris even when he is back.

PIERRE GARCON is the man for RG3 but was less than impressive with 6/59 and 1 TD against the Raiders.

All other Redskins WRs are unreliable.

WAS D/ST recorded 7 Sacks.

NEW YORK GIANTS

ELI MANNING needs a better offensive line, too many injuries.

DAVID WILSON is barely playing like a RB#3, he has the same amount of points as Montee Ball.

HAKEEM NICKS got his targets, but the results were horrible.

VICTOR CRUZ changes the game week after week.  Huge Sunday in a bad NYG day.

BRANDON MYERS only saw 1 target.

NYG D/ST is not getting to the QB, which is their only strength.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

MATT CASSEL may send Ponder to the bench.  Probably not.

ADRIAN PETERSON is a BEAST and put up a show in London.

GREG JENNINGS made the most of his 4 targets with 2 TDs.

JEROME SIMPSON led the way with 11 targets, hard to trust him.

KYLE RUDOLPH was the forgotten man, and it has been a trend all season.

MIN D/ST has not been the Min D/ST from the past. Besides the QB pressure.

CHICAGO BEARS

JAY CUTLER tears up the Lions like he usually does. Not a lot of Brandon Marshall surprisingly.

MATT FORTE continues to have a BEAST season, you can sell him very high as he is playing like a Top 5 RB. Health history would say to.

BRANDON MARSHALL had a rough day getting only 7 of his 14 targets.

ALSHON JEFFERY took the next step with his first 100 Game, nothing is guaranteed for him week-to-week.

MARTELLUS BENNETT is playing like the BEAST he was to start the 2012 Season.

CHI D/ST looked bad on the road.

DETROIT LIONS

MATT STAFFORD did what he can against a Bears team he usually struggles against.

REGGIE BUSH was as explosive as ever.  Redzone Touches and everything.

MEGATRON had his hands full with Charles Tillman who plays just as physical.

RYAN BROYLES did nothing with 1 Target.

BRANDON PETTIGREW had his week, but his consistency is a problem.

DET D/ST was turnover central.

GREEN BAY PACKERS

BYE WEEK.

EDDIE LACY expected to be back, but also lose time to Jonathan Franklin.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

ATLANTA FALCONS

MATT RYAN finally got it going with Tony Gonzalez.

JACQUIZZ and SNELLING looked worthless, still waiting on S-Jax.

JULIO JONES got his big plays, no TD.

RODDY WHITE is still a decoy, but did get 9 Targets.

TONY GONZALEZ had his breakout game with 149 Yards. 2 TDs.

ATL D/ST looked horrible at home.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

DREW BREES is a BEAST.

DARREN SPROLES made his living catching balls.

PIERRE THOMAS did not get enough carries to show anything.

MARQUES COLSTON had nothing in the 1st half, but a great 2nd Half.

JIMMY GRAHAM is a BEAST.

NO D/ST got it done at home on MNF.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

MIKE GLENNON is not better than Josh Freeman.

DOUG MARTIN is getting too much defensive attention.

VINCENT JACKSON and Glennon are not on the same page.

MIKE WILLIAMS got the early TD, but then was shutout.

TB D/ST was great at home all game, but then fell apart at the end.  Story of their season.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

COLIN KAEPERNICK took all the right steps to make him a Sell High QB.  The 49ers do not have any easy schedule and now would be a good time to sell him for the right franchise QB to take over your team.  He is not getting enough fantasy points with his legs, that should be his consistent 6 Points a week, and it is not.

FRANK GORE beasted to another level on Sunday.  He is a RB who should be held onto as he is looking like the real deal and could be a TD machine.

ANQUAN BOLDIN is the #1 for Kaepernick, he goes as far as Colin takes him.  Lots of good games instore.

VERNON DAVIS is going to be a BEAST all season

SF D/ST looked good against the Rams.  They will take it.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

RUSSELL WILSON saved the day with his legs.  Doug Flutie is the perfect comparison.

MARSHAWN LYNCH was a BEAST once again, even led the team in Receiving.

SIDNEY RICE cannot do anything when Wilson is at his worst.

GOLDEN TATE cannot do anything when Wilson is at his worst.

SEA D/ST turned it up at the end.

ST. LOUIS RAMS

SAM BRADFORD. Did not do much against the 49ERS, he will be up and down, but down against the NFC WEST.

DARYL RICHARDSON could not do a thing against the best Run Defense in the NFL, SF.

TAVON AUSTIN/DAVID PETTIS/CHRIS GIVENS/JARED COOK. Could not do a thing with Bradford having a bad game.

STL D/ST will have better games, this defense is not the defense we expected.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

CARSON PALMER did nothing all game, until the end.

RASHARD MENDENHALL is the RB for this team, he just had a bad matchup.

ANDRE ELLINGTON is getting more and more attention, but Mendy still has the job.

LARRY FITZGERALD was saved with a late redzone TD.

MICHAEL FLOYD saw a team leading 10 Targets.

ARI D/ST killed Glennon and his first start.  Shutdown Doug Martin as well.

  1. I got the romo trade done. A guy in my league had brees and and romo, but the only starting back he had was DMC..and he didnt have jennings as a cuff. I offered rg3 and woodhead and he gave me romo.

  2. Yo guys my backs are falling apart….Not a whole lot out there on the waiver. I have Brandon Bolden and based on what I read he shoucl be cut but who do I add? Jonathan Franklin, McGahee, Blout and Reshard Jennings are out there?
