BEAST DOME NATION.

For all of you new to the site.  This is essentially the “Start’EM” article of the week.  The Sit’EM aka Busts comes out later.  The players I choose in this article are the players where I go against the tide.  These are the players I think Experts on other sites have ranked too low, and they are going to outperform their ranking with ease.  You can check out my Rankings within the Experts, as well as my Week 6 Rankings by clicking the link below.

WEEK 7 RANKINGS

WEEK 7 BEASTS

JOSH FREEMAN – QB – TB

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #5
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #12

Freeman last season had an average QB Rating of over 95 in his two matchups against the Saints.  This coming from a QB who did even finish last season of a QB Rating over 80.  This matchup is too good for Freeman to use him with confidence.  He has strung back-to-back great games and now faces one of the worst defenses in the NFL.  Not to mention this game is very likely to be a shootout.

MATTHEW STAFFORD – QB – DET

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #6
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #10

Last week in the 4th quarter, Matthew Stafford finally put up the numbers his fantasy owners are accustom to seeing.  This week playing against the Bears in Chicago on Monday Night Football, you can expect their running game to have zero success.  Which only means we get to see the red hot Stafford continue to throw early and often Monday Night.  No reason to start a shaky name over Stafford in any format unless he is injured.  Calvin or no Calvin, based on the way the Bears play Megatron, Stafford will find a way to get his points.

MATT HASSELBECK – QB – TEN

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #13
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #18

Maybe you are not so fortunate where you have a star QB.  No worries, Matt Hasselbeck is a great bye-week flier for those Matt Ryan/Peyton Manning owners this week.  Hassel has the weapons to get the job done, and the Bills secondary is nothing to be afraid of.  The only that could hurt Matt is his lack of consistency on the road.  Regardless, if you have to go this far on your depth chart.  Go this far and feel good about it.

STEVAN RIDLEY – RB – NE

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #4
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #9

Things were looking really bad for Ridley last week when Bolden was taking all the carries.  Luckily for Ridley owners, Bolden not only got injured in that game.  He missed all of practice and is listed as doubtful this week in a very easy matchup against the Jets.  Expect Ridley to get over 20 carries and be a threat all over the field.  He is Must-Start this week in all leagues.

CHRIS JOHNSON – RB – TEN

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #6
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #11

The only reason Chris Johnson is not #1 this week is because of his inconsistency over these past two seasons.  This Sunday he has a fantastic matchup against a Bills  run defense that made William Powell seem like a relevant Fantasy RB.  Every team can run all over this group and CJ1K has no excuse not to join the part.

PIERRE THOMAS – RB – NO

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #18
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #28

Pierre is going to create a lot of problems with his running style against a Bucs Defense that will be busy worrying about the pass.  Although the Saints throw more than any team in the NFL, they will run it over 10 times with Pierre, and that is usually good for something.  Pierre also crushes NFC South opponents and he showed us earlier in the season against Carolina that he is going to continue that trend this season.

DARYL RICHARDSON – RB – STL

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #21
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #30

While many people are blaming the game plan for Richardson’s huge burst last week.  Their is no reason to think the Rams will not continue to use this speed guy frequently.  Between him and Steven Jackson taking carries, the Packers defense is sure to get beat up in more ways than one.  If you are desperate for a RB play this week, D-Rich does have the potential to rush for 80 Yards this week, not a bad RB#2 with all the bye weeks.  B.J. Raji being out helps his cause.

ANDRE JOHNSON – WR – HOU

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #7
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #14

It is not surprise that the Texans are going to try and gash this Ravens team with the run Sunday.  With Ngata not 100%, and Lewis gone for now.  This run defense that was already having problems will only have more.  So with bringing the safeties in a bit shallower, this could present some huge play-action fakes with Andre Johnson having huge mismatches down the field.  I would feel pretty good about getting him active and starting on my roster Sunday.

KENNY BRITT – WR – TEN

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #12
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #21

Britt is healthy this week.  Not a good thing for the Bills secondary that really cannot stop any WR when you consider all the #1s and their success.  Most recently you can point at Larry Fitzgerald.  Britt was the #1 WR in Fantasy Football before going down with an ACL injury, he looks to be pretty close back to form and this is a great matchup to see the breakout performance.

MIKE WILLIAMS – WR – TB

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #13
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #24

Josh Freeman has huge weapons in Williams and Jackson.  Teams cannot guard both, and both are #1 WR material in real football.  With Mike being the #2 in this offense, he can easily exploit mismatches and take a deep ball to the house.  TDs will make them dance continues to take over.  The game is going to be a shootout as well, which means TDs can come frequently.

JUSTIN BLACKMON – WR – JAX

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #30
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #42

When teams come out of Bye Weeks, they are usually much sharper.  The Jags are coming out of their bye week with a need for sharpness as this offense has been terrible so far this season.  Blackmon has HUGE play potential and he showed it during the preseason.  Similar to the next Dez Bryant.  You can guarantee the Jags worked out the kinks and Blackmon will be heavily involved coming out of the bye this week.

DEVIN HESTER – WR – CHI

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #37
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #56

When Alshon Jeffery went down, it opened up the door for Hester to be the clear #2 WR.  Yes Earl Bennett is returning from injury this week, but he missed practice Wednesday and Friday, while Hester only missed Thursday.  Rumors are that the Bears are going to run some special plays for Devin this week, regardless you can expect the Bears to throw often against this great Lions D-Line.  Not a bad week to go with Devin as an upset pick.

JERMICHAEL FINLEY – TE – GB

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #5
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #17

With Finley on pace for a terrible year and only 5 receptions in his last two games combined.  People are writing off Jermichael way too early.  Especially when you consider that the Packers offense is one of the most electric in the league when it comes to putting up passing yards and TDs, just look at last week.  Finley is going to play like his draft value sooner than later, this is a great matchup for it to happen now.

DALLAS CLARK – TE – TB

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #20
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #27

Despite splitting time at the TE spot and doing nothing to impress anyone in Fantasy Football.  This could finally be the week that Clark breaks out of his shell and starts producing like the TE Tampa Bay thought they got.  The Saints defense will have to drop back very deep to stop Williams and Jackson which should open things up for Clark down low.  It only helps that Clark has recently admitted he is not getting the ball enough.

CONNOR BARTH – K – TB

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #8
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #14

Look for the Bucs offense to being putting up points nearly every drive.  Which only means Barth will be a kicking machine on Sunday.

GARRETT HARTLEY – K – NO

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #6
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #11

Saints are going to be driving the ball down the field effectively against the Bucs.  No reason not to trust Hartley in knocking down a couple of FGs and multiple XPs.  Who knows, maybe the Saints offense stalls in the red zone with a hobbled Jimmy Graham leading to multiple, multiple FGS.

LIONS – D/ST – DET

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #8
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #17

The Lions have been good at one thing this season.  Stopping the run.  Luckily the Bears have a terrible offensive line, and their running game is crucial to setting up time in the passing game.  With the running game not being something the Bears can depend on, you can expect the sacks and possibly turnovers as you never know what Jay Cutler will show up.  I would take my chances if I had to reach really far into the waiver wire.

JAGUARS – D/ST – JAX

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #18
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #24

Coming off a bye, this is a week to roll with the Jags if every team on the waiver wire seems to be gone.  Carson Palmer is no lock for an efficient game, and Cox does have the ability to slow down Denarius Moore.  Regardless, you have to depend on the Palmer turnovers, and that is never a bad thing to depend on.

  1. I have Foster, MJD, D Richardson and Felix Jones. I can start 3 in my ppr league. Which do you recommend most? Thanks

  2. I have held onto Blackmon all season waiting for him to emerge. Week 7 byes are forcing me to start him this week. Hopefully he can produce like he did in the preseason.

  3. Who has the better game this week Blount or Tanner? I am leaning Tanner because F.Jones wont make it out of the game uninjured.

  4. Muntra,

Finley is a FA in my league? Should I drop Pettigrew to pick him up? I also have Gonzalez on my roster. Also, would you feel confident rolling the dice with the Lions D/ST over the Steelers D/ST? Thanks as always!

    Thomas

  5. Definitely grab Finley.

You can drop Pitt D/ST if you still own them to make the move. I like the Lions to make Jay Cutler make throws all night and that bad offensive line. Great sleeper start.

If you need to drop a TE, Pettigrew is a solid player who does have top 10 potential. But let us not forget that Finley has Top 5 Potential. Especially with the Packers having zero running game right now.

  6. PPR –
Who would be the better start as my second RB LeShoure against the Bears or Blount against New Orleans?

In the Flex should I stick with Antonio Brown or take a chance with Josh Gordon?
