FANTASY BASEBALL TESTIMONIALS 2012

– REV

“I just want to say thanks Muntradamus, you will never know how much you’ve helped me all season long. When I first came to this site, it was just to gather some help and move on. I never knew I would stay around all season. Every week, there was new info for me to use in all 5 of the leagues I played in. Then there were those timeless one on one times when you suggested a player that turned out to be a beast all season long. And even when you didn’t answer my question, your suggestions to others helped me. You know your stuff man, lol. I also want to thank all the members, Beast Dome Nation, namely Blue, who also helped me a lot. And now that my baseball season is or has come to a end, it’s on to Football, and you’ve haven’t missed a beat there either. So, thanks again. I ended the season with 2 Championship teams and 3 – 2nd place teams. In one league I was in first place since week 5 and stayed there all season long. That’s how much you info helped me. Not to many people can go through a season like that, IMO. So, thanks dude, you are the man. May you continue to be successful and I’ll definitely be here soaking up all your wisdom. God Bless you, and thanks again.”

PLAYERS ALREADY MENTIONED THAT SHOULD BE OWNED

JOHN BUCK (WEEK 3) 90% Owned on CBS.

JARROD SALTALAMACCHIA – BOS (34 % Owned)

Stats as of 5/8: .241/4 HR/9 RBI

There are not many better catching options than Salty on your waiver wire in deeper leagues.  The Fact Salty is below 50% does not make sense to me.

1) He can smash 25 HRs easily in a season.

2) He plays on a potent offense where he will get plenty of RBI opportunities.

Yes it does appear David Ross will steal games against left-handed pitching, even though Salty is a switch hitter.  But if Ross continues to go 0-4 instead of the rate 2 HR game.  Than Salty is not going anywhere, and neither is that playing-time.  Jarrod offers huge power at a thin position, and leaving him on the Waiver Wire is a gift to all the other owners in your league.

STEPHEN DREW – BOS (31% Owned)

Stats as of 5/8: .227/2 HR/12 RBI

Don’t look now, but Stephen Drew has 2 HRs over the past week while also hitting well over .300.  It is never easy to come to a new team and do well right away.  Especially when you were injured to start the season, but Drew is doing that right now.  Stephen is a nice Fantasy option in all leagues, and now would be the time to grab him at SS if you need a SS going forward.  Do keep in mind that he cannot hit a left-handed pitcher if his life depended on it, so he may sit for Pedro “Pour Me Another Shot” Ciriaco.

PLAYERS ALREADY MENTIONED THAT SHOULD BE OWNED

MARWIN GONZALEZ (WEEK 3) 24% Owned on CBS.

DIDI GREGORIOUS (WEEK 4) 28% Owned on CBS.

OF

MICHAEL SAUNDERS – SEA (59% Owned)

Stats as of 5/8: .280/4 HR/11 RBI/5 SB

Remember how good Brady Anderson was for the Orioles as a lead-off hitter?  Sometimes he would end up with a 30 HR season and steal over 20 Bases.  He even had a season where he hit 50 HRs!  With Saunders you are not going to get 50 HRs.  But what you can get is a solid OF option who gives you a very nice 20/20 reality, and never slows down for any pitcher.  Saunders has power, speed, and if he was not hurt earlier this season, he may even already be at 10 HR/10 SB.  Saunders was a 19 HR/21 SB player last season in only 139 games, look for him to pass those numbers.

GERARDO PARRA – ARI (54% Owned)

Stats as of 5/8: .300/2 HR/9 RBI/4 SB

The middle spot of the OF Waiver Wire options each week is the, not sexy/but get the job done pick.  Last week I had Michael Brantley, this week I picked his twin brother who does exactly the same thing.  Gerardo Parra will not hit 20 HRs.  He will not rack up 20 SBs.  But he does have the potential to do both when he is playing hot.  Parra has been hitting the ball like a smooth criminal all season, but he does have a bad tendency to sit against lefties.  Which makes him a strict daily play, rather than a season long league option.  But if you are streaming hitters, Parra offers you a solid option.

CHRIS PARMELEE – MIN (14 % Owned)

Stats as of 5/8: .200/3 HR/10 RBI/1 SB

The third OF option is typically the all or nothing HR guy.  We were on a run of Houston Astros with Rick Ankiel and Chris Carter, and now we have Chris Parmelee.  Parmelee has solid low-end 20-25 HR potential with the Twins this season.  That ballpark does make it tough for those numbers, but those numbers are what’s going to make Parm so special for a player on nearly every waiver wire.  He has young Jason Kubel written all over him.

TONY CINGRANI (WEEK 3) @ MIA – 5 INN/8 K/1 ER/WIN

JORGE DE LA ROSA (WEEK 4) @ ARI – 6 INN/1 K/2 ER/L

DAVID PHELPS (Week 5) VS. HOU – 5.2 INN/5 K/4 ER/ND

ANDREW CASHNER (WEEK 6) @ TB

UBALDO JIMENEZ – CLE (35% Owned)

Stats as of 5/8:  6.37 ERA/2-2/27 K (29.2 INN)

Yes, we all know Ubaldo can be the Carlos Marmol of Starting Pitchers and ruin your ERA/WHIP for a month with just one “typical” game.  But let us not forget that Ubaldo was the only pitcher to ever dominate in Coors Field from 2009-2010.  Ubaldo has strung a couple back-to-back good starts, including a 8 K in 5 INN performance against the team that leads the AL in Runs, Oakland A’s.

Ubaldo has long ways to go before you can trust him in your rotation, but maybe a shutout is all it takes for people to jump the gun.  Why not stash him on your bench for now?
