FANTASY BASEBALL WAIVER WIRE

CHRIS DAVIS, MY SECRET CRUSH (Week 14)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

At this point of the Fantasy Baseball Season, you are adding the flavors of the week off the Waiver Wire. A guy who can hit 5+ HRs maybe one week, then zero the next. Finding a long-term replacement this late in the game is not common. However with that being said, this week there are a few players who should be here for good.

CHRIS DAVIS – 1B – BAL (14% Owned)

Let us start by saying, no player has hit more HRs in MLB in the last 5 years than Chris Davis. Even with a mere 26 HRs last year an injured riddled season. Chris Davis has struggled all 2018, struggled is an understatement, Crush has fallen off the face of the earth and failed to hit the ball all together. Bars in Baltimore started giving out free drinks to people everytime Chris Davis got a single, I am not even kidding. Davis and his batting average fell below .150 and the Orioles finally have had enough and threw him on the bench.

8 Games later, Chris Davis finally gets a start and comes back with a HR in his first game. He follows that up with a bases clearing 2 out double which secured the Orioles win on Saturday. To say Chris Davis does not have momentum, you are kidding yourself. There is not a streakier power hitting player in the game today and the Orioles are ready to move on with their BEAST to another level. While it is too little too late for the Orioles to reach the playoffs this season after a dreadfully slow start, the team is finally 100% healthy including Colby Rasmus who could be one of the most underrated lead off hitters in Baseball.

When Chris Davis is hot, you better jump on the bandwagon. Before it is too late.

BEAST

FRANKLIN BARRETO – SS – OAK (16% Owned)

Barreto is no doubt the A’s future star. He was called up for a minute last season to replace Siemian and showed the potential to have double digit HRs with a bit of speed. This season he has been killing it in the minors, but the Majors was a different story up until this past week.

For the 3rd time this season, Barreto has been called up as the A’s find any reason to see if Barreto can hit the ball. After going 0-for his first what felt like 20, Barreto has finally bursted on the scene with 3 HRs this week. The A’s are definitely sellers at the deadline and Jed Lowrie with his contract ending at the end of the season is the perfect trade candidate for the A’s. Which will free up Barreto for full time PT.

Add Barreto he will qualify at 2B very soon and has SS already under his belt.

TOM MURPHY – C – COL (27% Owned)

Murphy has yet to blast a HR entering Sunday, but he still has the power to mash 20+ once he gets going. The Rockies have decided to give Tom Murphy the car keys to an automatic starting position in all fantasy leagues, a Full-Time Catcher in Colorado. Murphy no doubt has the power and I wrote about him last week if you did not see the article last week telling you everything you need to know about the Future Top 5 Catcher.
