FANTASY BASEBALL WHERE YOUR SWAG AT!:

Not Your Typical Halladay (VOL. I)

BEAST DOME NATION.

If there was anyone that could bring players out of slumps, Andrew Levy aka BrooklynBums has the magical touch as he revitalized hitters and pitchers all-season long by calling them out.  Mark Teixeira could not hit a HR if his life depended on it to start the season.  Brooklyn Calls Him out, and Tex hits 4 bombs in that week.  It’s always a good thing when your player gets mentioned.

WHERE YOUR SWAG AT!

Hello all and welcome back for another great season of Fantasy Baseball! As out teams begin to take shape, we look at the players we drafted and hope they will  make us the champion of our league. Good luck to everyone on their upcoming season and keep checking BeastDome.com for all your fantasy needs.  You are all lucky to have found Muntradamus, he is banned from my fantasy league for cheating, we all know he has a DVR from the future.

Welcome to another round of WHERE YOUR SWAG AT!

Swag. People like to think they have swag. Swag is considered something you earn, something you can get from being great and when you have it you present it to everyone in the way you act and show yourself. As easy as it is to get swag it is just as easy to have it taken from you. In Baseball players live and breathe swag. With it you can be the best player in the game and without it one of the worst players. Players who have swag have confidence and it shows.  It was pointed out to me that after I had submitted my Swag article the players I had wrote about had begin to pick it up. Lets hope the same happens for the following players.

HITTER

To start the 2013 season I had to look at my long list of players who have been under-performing .  Players who have had a hard time at the plate or on the mound and just look like they have just had no swag right out of the gate.  The first player I have for you is the biggest surprise, even to me. He has started the year with a .190 batting average, 4 RBI’s and 0 stolen bases, which in almost every fantasy league is a player that would be dropped. The only problem is the player’s name. Can you guess?  Matt Kemp. Last April Kemp came out the gates blazing. He hit 12 HR, drove in 25 RBI’s and had a BA of .417.

MATT KEMP – OF – LAD

(STATS AS OF 4/15): .174 Average. 0 HR. 4 RBI. 0 SB

This season Kemp has done a 180 out of the gate. He has 0 HR, 4 RBI and is posting a BA of 190. Kemp did not get his first hit of the season until after his 10th at bat. He went hitles in the teams first series with the Giants. I do not know whats hurts more, seeing him go hitless as a Kemp fantasy owner or as a Dodger fan. As I said, if a player with stats like these had any other name he would have been dropped like a pound of bricks.  You know the saying “April showers bring May flowers”, well it is pouring down for Matt Kemp right now.

KEMP, WHERE YOUR SWAG AT?

PITCHER

Staying on the side of players with big names, this P is known for being the horse of the pitching staff and being Mr. Reliable. The Phillies  ever prominent Roy Halladay takes the first honors as my first swag-less Pitcher. Last season Halladay came out and won his first 3 games for the Phills and we all thought the same thing, dominance.

 ROY HALLADAY – P – PHI

STATS AS OF 4/15:  7.63 ERA/1.56 WHIP/(1-2)/14 K

2013 was a little different for Halladay coming out of the gate. Through his forst 2 starts he was Roy had only pitched 7.1 innings, had given up a whopping 12 earned runs and his ERA was 14.75. If you had to find an upside for him, he did have 12 K’s. He might have begun to turn it around after his start on 4/14. He faced Miami and only gave up 1 run over 6 innings pitched. His K’s were low with 2 but he did get the W.  Could this be the beginning of Halladay getting his swag back or was it just him pitching against an awful team? We will have to wait and see, but until then…
