If you really want to win your fantasy baseball league, it really helps to just glaze through my notes every day.  You will be familiar with who is doing well and could break out.

SPRING TRAINING NOTES:

(SUNDAY 3/11)

  • John Danks (3 INN, 3 Hits, 1 ER, 4 BB, K).  Second bad start of the Spring.
  • Addison Reed (1 INN, 1 R, 2 BB).  Thornton gets more breathing room as White Sox closer.
  • Matt Latos (3 INN, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 Ks).  Has not stood out this Spring.
  • Drew Stubbs (SB).  Stole his first of the Spring, good 20/20 candidate.
  • Derek Holland (3 INN, 3 H, ER, 4 Ks).  In line for a huge season if Texas goes 5 man rotation.
  • Shin Soo-Choo (2-3).  Staying hot this Spring.
  • Yovani Gallardo (3 1/3 INN, 3 H, BB, 2 Ks).  Dominant Spring.
  • Jonathan LuCroy (1-3, SB).  First of the Spring, anything more would be surprising.
  • Felix Hernandez (4 INN, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 Ks).  Should be dominant.
  • Brian Wilson (INN, H, K).  The Beard was good in his debut.
  • Trayvon Robinson (3-4, HR, 2 RBI).  Supposed to be a great player one day.
  • Melky Cabrera (2-3, 2 RBI).  Staying hot.
  • Eric Hosmer (2-3, HR, 4 RBI).  Should be huge this season, 1st HR of the Spring.
  • Bruce Chen (3 INN, 2 H, ER, K).  Nice bounce back start.
  • Jordan Walden (1 INN, H).  Should be a dream season for Jordan.
  • Travis Hafner (2-3, HR, RBI).  Indian fans would love to see 25+ HRs.
  • Vernon Wells (2-4, HR, 5 RBI).  Could bounce back in big way.
  • Mark Trumbo (3-4, HR, 2 RBI).  If every day 3rd Base he would be huge.
  • Jason Kipnis (1-3, SB).  Find his rankings in the draft guide.
  • Ryan Roberts (1-1, 2 SB).  I’m drafting this guy.  Easy 20/20.
  • Orlando Hudson (2-3, HR, 2 RBI).  Solid last season w/ 19 SBs.
  • Yonder Alonso (2-3, 2 RBI).  Could be real deal.
  • Daniel Hudson (3 INN, 3 Ks).  That’s the start we were waiting for.
  • Matt Garza (1 1/3 INN, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K).  Garza will go undervalued.
  • Ted Lilly (3 INN, H, BB).  He will go very late.
  • Johan Santana (2 2/3 INN, 2 H, BB, 2 Ks).  Good Spring so far.
  • Mark Buehrle (4 INN, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, K, W). No K’s but will find way to get wins.
  • Tyler Pastornicky (1-4, SB).  Finally we see those wheels.
  • Ricky Romero (3 INN, H, 4 Ks).  Should be huge this season.
  • Pedro Alvarez (1-2, HR, RBI).  Could be comeback player of the year.
  • Ryan Raburn (2-3, HR, 3 RBI).  Going to be huge this season.
  • Cliff Lee (3 INN, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 Ks).  Bad start, Detroit just may be that good.
  • Ricky Porcello (4 INN, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 Ks). Double digit wins.
  • Jonathan Papelbon (1 INN, 2 H, ER).  Not perfect anymore.
  • Russell Martin (0-2, SB).  4th SB of the spring, could steal double digits.
  • C.C. Sabathia (3 INN, 2 H, BB, 2 Ks).  Really like him to win 20 games.
  • Marian Rivera (INN, W).   Way to start the Spring.
  • Phil Hughes (3 INN, H, BB, K).  Should bounce back this season.
  • Matt Capps (INN, BB, K).  Closer job is his for now.
  • Brett Gardner (0-1, SB).  The SB’s will come in bunches.
  • Dustin Pedroia (2-3, 2 RBI).  Expect a lot of games like this.
  • Jon Lester (4 INN, H, ER, 4 BB, 2 Ks).  Will be beasting this season.

(Monday 3/11)

  • Jimmy Rollins (1-3, HR, RBI).  Rollins is having a nice Spring and is a 15/30 candidate if he stays healthy.
  • Vance Worley (4 INN, 8 Ks).  Ok, let’s see if he can do it again.
  • James Shields (4 INN, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Shields is going to have a nice season.
  • Kyle Farnsworth (INN, 2 H, R).  Semi-hurt his chances of holding that closer job all season.
  • Carl Pavano (4 INN, 4 H, ER, BB, 3 Ks).  If you are desperate late for a pitcher.
  • Ben Revere (1-3, SB).  2nd of the Spring, he could get 30 during the season.
  • Lucas Duda (1-2, HR, 4 RBI).  Nice 2nd half of the season last year.
  • Alex Avila (2-2, 2 RBI).  Should be in line for a nice season.
  • Miguel Cabrera (2-3, RBI).  Might lead majors in RBIs.
  • Martin Prado (3-4, RBI, SB).  Nice a bit of everything guy.
  • Jonny Venters (2 INN, H, 2 ER, 3 BB, K).  2 INN is too much for him to go.
  • Craig Kimbrel (1 INN, H, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Kimbrel is the best closer in fantasy.
  • Jamie Garcia (2 INN, 3 H, ER, BB, K).  The K’s last time proved to be a fluke.
  • Jason Motte (1 INN, 2 H, ER, 2 Ks, W).  The W will cover up the bad appearance.
  • Jordan Zimmerman (3 2/3 INN, 7 H, 4 ER, BB).  Bad start, should be solid.
  • Ryan Zimmerman (2-3, HR, RBI).  Getting hot.
  • David Freese (1-2, HR, 3 RBI).  First of the Spring, nice bench player.
  • Wei-Yin Chen (3 INN, 2 H, ER, BB, 2 Ks).  So far a bench fantasy option.
  • Brandon Morrow (3 INN, H, 2 Ks).  Solid K pitcher, he’s worth reaching for.
  • Kelly Johnson (1-2, SB).  Nice to see him rack that up.
  • Josh Beckett (4 INN, H, ER, BB, 3 Ks).  I’m reaching for him.
  • Ricky Nolasco (3 1/3 INN, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, K).  Wait and see.
  • Nelson Cruz (1-3, HR, RBI).  Plenty more of those to come.
  • Miguel Olivo (1-3, HR, 3 RBI).  Great steal late.
  • Ichiro Suzuki (0-2, SB).  Haven’t said his name a lot, nice SB.
  • Joe Nathan (INN, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Bad appearance.
  • Matt Harrison (3 INN, 3 H, ER, 2 Ks).  Could get cheap wins if starter for the whole season.
  • Ubaldo Jimenez (3 INN, 3 H, ER, 2 BB, K).  Bad spring, at least he took a step in the right direction.
  • Vinnie Pestano (INN, H, BB, 3 Ks).  Could be the closer all season for Cleveland if Perez does not come in strong.
  • Carlos Marmol (INN, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, K, W).  Terrible Spring, back-to-back blowups.
  • Bronson Arroyo (2 INN, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K).  Might lose his job to Chapman at some point this season.
  • Alfonso Soriano (2-3, HR, 3 RBI).  Ready for a dynamite season, 4th of the Spring.
  • Zack Cozart (1-2, 2 RBI).  I like him a lot.
  • Jered Weaver (1 2/3 INN, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 Ks).  Dream Weaver unraveled, he should be fine.
  • Aaron Harang (3 INN, 3 H, ER, 2 Ks).  Could be a good sleeper.
  • Dee Gordon (1-3, SB).  Another SB brings his total to 4.  The sky is the limit.
  • Matt Kemp (1-2, SB).  50/50 season could happen.
  • Howie Kendrick (2-3, SB).  20 HRs, plus double digits SB on top.
  • Tim Lincecum (4 INN, H, 2 BB, 4 Ks).  That’s the Lincecum we expect.
  • Gregor Blanco (3-3, RBI, SB).  6 SB’s this spring has me wanting him as a late round flier.  Next Cameron Maybin if they find the lineup space.
  • Tyson Ross (3 INN, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Could be next Oakland pitcher to be a good fantasy option.
  • Grant Balfour (INN, K).  Closer job is his for now.
  • Jake Peavy (2 1/3 INN, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, K).  Yikes, I’m passing on the comeback season.
  • Corey Luebke (3 INN, H, BB, 2 Ks).  Should be solid this season.
  • Rafael Betancourt (INN, H).  Could easily get 35+ Saves.
  • Cameron Maybin (2-3, HR, RBI).  10/40 Season would be great.
  • Wilin Rosario (2-3, HR, 4 RBI).  Next best thing from the catcher position.
  • Hiroki Kuroda (3 INN, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Kuroda should be solid if he can get it together.  This was a good start.

Tuesday (3/13/12)

HEADLINES:

  • Carlos Lee (2-4, 2 2B)  Good to see his bat going.
  • Cole Hamels (5 INN, 4 H, ER, 4 Ks).  Great tune up start.
  • Dominic Brown (2-5, HR, RBI).  Outfield situation is crowded.
  • Francisco Liriano (3 INN, 4 H, 4 ER, 5 Ks).  Toronto has a great offense.
  • Brett Cecil (3, H, 2 BB, 2 Ks, W).  Having a nice spring and picks up 2nd win.
  • David Price (3 2/3, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks).  Bad start.
  • Matt Moore (1 2/3 INN, BB, 3Ks).  Do not let him fall in your draft.
  • Jason Hammel (3 INN, H, BB, ER, 2 Ks).  Not a bad spring so far.
  • Mike Minor (4 INN, H, BB, 4 Ks).  Solid Spring with nice K rate.
  • Carlos Zambrano (4 INN, 2 H, ER, BB, 5 Ks).  Starts like this will make you draft him.
  • Heath Bell (INN, K).  That is how he does it.
  • Adam Wainwright (3 INN, H, BB, K).  Wainwright is probably getting undervalued in your draft.
  • Frank Francisco (INN, 2 H, ER).  Closer job will not be his for long.
  • David Freese (1-3, HR, 2 RBI).  2nd of the Spring, showing off 20 HR potential.
  • Daniel Murphy (2-4).  A game you will see more often than not with him.
  • Yadier Molina (2-3, HR, RBI).  Like him later than earlier.
  • Cameron Maybe (1-2, SB).  Already showed some power, maybe 10-40 season?
  • Gavin Floyd (4 INN, 5 H, ER, 5 Ks).  Nice start to make him very draftable.
  • Addison Reed (INN, 3 H, ER, BB, 1 K).  Thornton has the job a bit longer.
  • Huston Street (INN, H, K, S).  All season he will be doing this.
  • Brian Fuentes (INN, 3 H, 4 ER, BB).  Closer job is back in Balfour’s hands.
  • Manny Ramirez (1-2, HR, RBI).  Could be useful by the All-Star Break.
  • Matt Gamel (1-2, SB).  2nd of the Spring and showing nice potential.
  • Drew Pomeranz (2 INN, 2 Ks).  Would not be surprised to hear his name again during the season.
  • Chris Capuano (2 2/3 INN, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks).  Ya, starts like this happen.
  • Jay Bruce (2-3, HR, 2 RBI).  Bruce should hit 40 this season.
  • Eric Hosmer (1-4, 2 RBI).  Like him a lot this season.
  • Mike Leake (3 INN, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Chapman will be the steal of all drafts.
  • Jonathan Sanchez (2 INN, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K)
  • Yu Darvish (3 INN, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 Ks).  Dice-K 2.0.
  • Brandon League (1 INN, 2 H, K).  Great late-round closer.
  • Zack Grienke (3 INN, H, BB, 5 Ks).  Fantasy Ace like potential.
  • Jon Axford (INN, K) vs. K-Rod (INN, H, ER).  Closer job is Axford’s.
  • Starlin Castro (1-3, RBI, SB).  Games like this will happen often for Starlin.
  • Madison Bumgarner (4 INN, 7 H, 3 ER, 4 Ks).  Bad start.
  • Dan Haren (3 INN, H, 7 Ks).  He is worth the high draft pick.
  • Trevor Cahill (3 INN, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 Ks).  Rough start this spring.
  • Ryan Raburn (2-5, HR, 3 RBI).  4th HR of the Spring, he can easily hit 25+ this season.
  • Jayson Werth (1-2, HR).  2nd of the Spring.  He can be a good bounce back candidate.
  • Edwin Jackson (3 1/3 INN, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks).  Edwin is going to be a great sleeper.
  • Jose Valverde (INN, H, ER, K).  Solid Spring only one bad outing.
  • Danny Espinosa (2-3, SB).  20/20 season under way.
  • Ivan Nova (4 INN, 2 H, 3 Ks).  Good late-round flier.
  • Mariano Rivera (INN, K).  Perfect way to close out this episode of the ST daily show.

  • Anibal Sanchez (2 INN, 2 H, 4 Ks).  Like him as a nice sleeper.
  • Jeremy Hellickson (3 INN, 4 H, 4 ER, BB, 3 Ks).  Bad Spring so far.
  • Max Scherzer (2 2/3 INN, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks).  Should be solid.
  • Prince Fielder (3-3, HR, 2 RBI). 40 HRs is the goal.
  • Delmon Young (2-3, 2 RBI).  Do not let him fall in your draft.
  • Josh Willingham (2-3, HR, 2 RBI).  30 HRs is the goal.
  • Roy Halladay (2 2/3 INN, 7 H, 5 ER, BB, 3 Ks). Got this start out of the way.
  • Jonathan Papelbon (INN, H, BB, K).  Okay outing.
  • J.J. Hardy (2-3, HR, 2 RBI). First of the Spring, needs to build off of it.
  • Mark Reynolds (1-3, HR, 2 RBI).  First of the Spring, could be a monster.

  • Albert Pujols (2-2, 2 HR, 4 RBI).  MVP type numbers.
  • Howie Kendrick (3-3, HR, 3 RBI). 20-14 Season possibly.
  • Adam Dunn (1-2, HR, 2 RBI).  I am a believer.
  • Erick Aybar (1-3, 2 SB).  30 SBs are in reach.
  • Ervin Santana (1 1/3 INN, H, ER, BB, 2 Ks).  Worth the late pick.
  • Chris Sale (4 1/3 INN, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 Ks).  Needs to bounce back.

  • Aroldis Chapman (3 INN, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 Ks). Sleeper of the year.
  • Clayton Kershaw (4 INN, H, 2 BB, 6 Ks).  CY Young candidate.
  • Homer Bailey (2 1/3 INN, 6 H, 6 ER, 3 BB).  Donzo.
  • Carlos Quentin (2-3, HR, RBI). 1st of the Spring, can hit 100 RBIs if he stays healthy.
  • Chase Headley (1-3, HR, RBI).  Nice double-double baseball player with HR, and steal.
  • Andrew Cashner (INN, H, 2 Ks).  Cashner is the next best set-up man.
  • Stephen Strasburg (4 INN, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K).  Stras is having a rough spring.
  • Dan Uggla (1-2, HR, 3 RBI). 2nd HR of the Spring, he should be solid for maybe 40.
  • Carlos Gonzalez (2-3, HR, 4 RBI).  Steal if he falls to the 2nd round.
  • J.J. Putz (INN, 2 Ks).  J.J. will be a solid closer.

  • ·         Brandon Belt (3-5, RBI).  Could be a solid 20/80.
  • ·         Mike Carp (1-4, HR, 3 RBI).  Carp should be solid after a nice 2nd half.
  • ·         Wilin Rosario (2-3, HR, 2 RBI).  Nice sleeper candidate once hes the guy.
  • Jhoulys Chacin (3 INN, H, BB, K).   Nice start, good sleeper.
  • Eric Young Jr. (1-2, 2 SB).  5 SBs this spring has him as a late round candidate.
  • Paul Goldschmidt (1-2, HR, 4 RBI). 20+ HR potential is there.
  • Carlos Marmol (INN, H, BB, K).  Still on the fences about him.
  • Ian Kennedy (4 INN, 5 H, BB, 3 Ks).  Excellent starter.
  • Ryan Dempster (3 2/3 INN, 8 H, 3 ER, BB, 3 Ks).  Rough start.
  • Chris Narveson (3 2/3 INN, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks).  Good sleeper.
  • Daniel Bard (2 2/3 INN, 6 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, K).  Rough appearance that will drop his value.
  • Dustin Pedroia (1-3, HR, RBI).  1st of the Spring, maybe 20+ HRs is too much.
  • Brett Myers (INN, H).  Closer job is still his for now.
  • Raji Davis (1-4, 2 SB).  4 SB this spring, still has a lot of competition for PT.
  • Joe Mauer (1-3, 2 RBI).  Not a lot of power so far this spring.
  • Garret Jones (3-4, HR, 4 RBI).  Heating up a bit so far this spring.
  • Alexi Casilla (1-2, SB).  3rd of the Spring nice late round option.
  • Alex Presley (3-4, 2 RBI, SB).  1st SB of the spring, having a nice spring despite that.
  • Dernard Span (1-3, RBI, SB).  Should bounce back with 20 easy SBs.
  • Josh Johnson (3 INN, 5 H, ER, 2 Ks).  Having a solid spring.
  • Heath Bell (INN, BB, 2 Ks).  40 saves is a lock.
  • Ike Davis (1-3, RBI).  Good to see him doing well.

  • Michael Pineda (3 2/3 INN, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 Ks).  Huge season ahead.
  • Justin Verlander (3 2/3 INN, 3 H, ER, 8 Ks).  Maybe he is worth the first round pick.
  • Jose Valverde (INN, 3 Ks).  Great appearance, ready to dominate.
  • Chad Billingsley (3 2/3 INN, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, K).  He has bounced back well.
  • Dee Gordon (0-2, SB).  Even when he does not get a hit, he steals a base.
  • Eric Homser (2-3, 4 RBIs).  Big season ahead.
  • Justin Masterson (4 INN, BB, 4 Ks).  Dominant stuff raises his value.
  • Jason Kipnis (1-4, SB).  Great sleeper.
  • A.J. Pierzynski (1-4, HR, RBI).  2nd Bomb of the spring.
  • Dan Uggla (1-3, HR, RBI).  Great spring with 3rd HR.

  • Paul Goldschmidt (1-2, 2 RBI).  Could be nice value.
  • Tommy Hanson (3 INN, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 K, W). Less than great start.

  • Vance Worley (4 INN,4 H, 3 Ks). Solid Spring, worth the late pick.
  • Brandon Morrow (3 1/3 INN, 5 H, ER, BB, 4 Ks). Solid spring, I like him as well.
  • Jonathan Papelbon (INN, 2 H, K). Should be nice.
  • Kelly Johnson (2-3) May be nice.
  • Jordan Zimmerman (4 INN, 5 H, 3 K).  Nice sleeper.
  • John Buck (2-3, HR, RBI). First of the Spring.

  • Matt Holiday (1-3, HR, 2 RBI).  Holiday is ready to breakout.
  • Delmon Young (2-2, HR, 4 RBI). 30-100 is possible.
  • Ryan Raburn (2-4, HR, RBI). 25+ HRs at 2B.
  • Ricky Nolasco (5 INN, 5 H, ER, 3BB, 3Ks).  Could be a nice late round pick.
  • Danny Valencia (2-3, HR, RBI). 3rd of the Spring nice 20 HR candidate.
  • Hanley Ramirez (1-1, 2 RBI). 2nd of the Spring and looks great.
  • Ben Revere (3-4, SB). Nice 30+ SB candidate.
  • Pablo Sandoval (1-3, HR, 2 RBI). 3rd of the Spring, should be 30 HR guy.
  • Angel Pagan (2-4, HR, RBI). Could steal 30+ Bases with ease.
  • Ryan Theriot (1-4, HR, 2 RBI). 1st of the spring nice end of the draft guy.
  • Tim Lincecum (6 INN, 6 H, ER, 4 Ks).  Lincey.
  • Brian Wilson (2/3 INN, H, 2 BB, 2Ks). Solid, yet not.
  • Ian Kinsler (3-4, HR, 2 RBI). 30/30 season is coming.
  • Michael Young (2-4, RBI). Will be solid all season.
  • Jason Kubel (3-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI).  Interesting sleeper.
  • Bronson Arroyo (4 INN, 4 H, ER, 2 Ks). That will keep him a job.
  • Ubaldo Jimenez (3 2/3 INN, 5 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 Ks). I’ll pass.
  • Vinnie Pestano (1 1/3 INN, 3 H, 2 Ks). Will be solid to start season.
  • Zack Cozart (2-3, 2 RBI). Cozart is a solid hitter.
  • Brandon Phillips (1-3, HR, RBI). 20/20 guy easy.
  • Travis Hafner (2-3, RBI). People will forget about him.
  • Devin Mesoraco (1-2, RBI, SB). Let’s see if he steals more than 1.
  • Rafel Betancourt (2/3 5 H, 4 ER, K). Nobody wants to see that.
  • Corey Luebke (4 INN, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 Ks). Against the Royals.
  • Bruce Chen (3 INN, 8 H, 5 ER, 2K). Pass on him.
  • Huston Street (INN, 2 Ks).  Solid.
  • Brandon Belt (1-3, HR, 3 RBI). Bombs away.
  • Aaron Harang (4 INN, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 Ks). Interesting, but bad.
  • Jason Heyward (2-4, SB). First the HR, and now the SB.
  • Daniel Murphy (2-3). Typical game.
  • Jonathan Niese (5 1/3 INN, 6 H, 3 K). Rough spring, nice start.
  • Frank Francisco (INN). Might have closer job still?
  • Josh Beckett (5 INN, 2 H, ER, BB, 2 Ks).  Beckett is the man and I am drafting him.
  • Geovany Soto (2-2, HR, RBI). 1st of the Spring, not impressed.
  • Jake Peavy (5 INN, BB, 5 Ks).  Nice start, maybe Seattle is really bad.
  • Addison Reed (1 1/3, H, BB, 2 Ks). Soon to be closer.
  • Alex Rios (2-4, RBI). Could bat 3rd, nice sleeper.
  • Derek Holland (4 INN, H, 2 Ks). Ready to breakout.
  • Jon Axford (INN, H). Closer job is his.
  • Jered Weaver (4 INN, 2 H, ER, BB, 4 Ks).  Elite start.
