FANTASY BASEBALL 2016:

THE SCENT OF BARTOLO (WAIVER WIRE)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

What more do I have to prove that I am constantly a BEAST in Fantasy Baseball. FantasyPros asks me to pick a Hitter of the day, I pick Mark Trumbo who hits 2 HRs in 1 INN. They ask me to pick a pitcher, I select Carlos Martinez who throws a gem and the W.

I am the only expert to finish in top 10 in both Weeks. Last season I finished #7 overall in the DFS Expert Challenge.

WAIVER WIRE

JARROD SALTALAMACCHIA – C – DET

Owned 25% Leagues

Salty is the type of player that can hit 20+ HR without even blinking. Power has never been a problem for the Ex-Marlins/Red Sox/Braves Catcher. Batting average and defense has always been the issue. With James McCann out for at least a couple months, Salty is someone who can give you instant offense and he will be a Catcher #1 quality player while he gets everyday PT. Especially in that stacked Tigers lineup.

JOEY RICKARD – OF – BAL

Owned 30% Leagues

Rickard is the second coming of Brady Anderson, the best lead off hitter in Orioles History. While Rickard is not a guy who is showing off power now, he should be able to finish the season as a poor man Dexter Fowler with 10 HR/10 SB potential. While that is not exciting, he will get it done in deep leagues. What makes Rickard the most intriguing is the fact he bats lead-off and hits around .300+. If he continues to do that the Runs will be over 100+.

BARTOLO COLON – SP – NYM

Owned 24% Leagues

Bartolo is 42 Years Old, while that is old enough to stay away, Bartolo continues to pitch like a BEAST who is in his prime. He is still reaching the 6+ INN mark with ease and he has been nearly unhittable with a WHIP under 1.00 to start the young season. Bartolo will eventually fade, but while he is pitching this hot in the Weak NL East outside of the Nationals, Bartolo looks to be a guy who can give you plenty of QS while picking up wins.

MAT LATOS – SP – CWS

Owned 56% Leagues

Latos is a BEAST DOME guy that failed last season. He went to Miami and walked every batter he faced, then gave up crushing hits. With Latos looking sharp early on with the White Sox, if your pitching staff needs help he is worth the shot. The White Sox have a solid team that can rack up some wins in the AL Central. If Latos keeps pitching well there is no reason to believe he is not a guy you can depend on all year.

JONATHAN NIESE – SP – PIT

Owned 41% Leagues

Niese seemed to be guy who was pitching on his last arm with the Mets last season, but he continued to show he was relevant until all the young gun arms of the Mets took over that rotation. Now Niese finds himself on the Pirates, a team that needs him to fill the shoes that AJ Burnett left. Niese is a veteran hard throwing lefty, and the NL Central has a lot of teams that do not hit lefties well, especially the Reds. Niese will pick up a lot of cheap wins and throw a lot of sleeper QS’s in there. Not a BEAST but a solid bench pitcher.
