Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Roll Up Another Blount (Week 7)

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire:

Roll Up Another Blount (Week 7)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Last week it was Cedric Benson who had the foot injury, this week it was DeMarco Murray.  While the injury bug is never an easy thing to predict, it is always good to be prepared.  This is a friendly reminder to get your insurance players for your studs.  Season is still not half way over and there will be many of injuries to come every week.  For all of you Baltimore Ravens D/ST owners, now is a good time to explore other defenses.

After Week 1 I told you to grab JacQuizz Rodgers/Martellus Bennett/Alfred Morris/Randall Cobb/Scott Chandler/Broncos.
WEEK 2 WAIVER WIRE

After Week 2 I told you to grab Mikel Leshoure/Andre Brown/Ryan Succop/Bilal Powell/Brian Hartline.
WEEK 3 WAIVER WIRE

After Week 3 I told you to grab Ryan Fitzpatrick and Danny Woodhead who both had good weeks.
WEEK 4 WAIVER WIRE.

After Week 4 I told you to add James Jones/Rams Def/Brandon Bolden
WEEK 5 WAIVER WIRE .

After Week 5 I told you add Josh Gordon/Brandon Gibson/William Powell/TB Defense/Shaun Suisham.
WEEK 6 WAIVER WIRE

..and many more useful players in each article.  If you see a player that you think should be on this list, chances are they have been mentioned earlier in previous Waiver  Wire articles above.  Since most of the players have been covered in previous weeks.  There have been some changes made to the way this article is usually done.

WEEK 7 WAIVER WIRE

JOSH FREEMAN – QB – TB

I have now covered every Fantasy QB in all the waiver wire articles that are worth owning.  For now I will give you my QB of the Week, as well as some backup candidates to replace your Bye Week options.  Josh Freeman is a little more special than the others this week because not only does he have the best matchup in Fantasy Football against the New Orleans Saints Defense.  He plays the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings the following two weeks.  This is the beginning of the Josh Freeman spree, and hopefully you caught the article Saturday and was able to beat the crowd to the punch.

Other Bye Week Fliers: Brandon Weeden @ IND/Matt Hasselbeck @ BUF/ Sam Bradford vs. GB

FELIX JONES – RB – DAL

DeMarco Murray’s foot injury is something to worry about.

DeMarco is out for at least this Sunday against the Panthers, and could possibly miss more time as ligament damage is never something you want to hear from your RB.  Especially when it is concerning his foot.  Everything you need to know about Jones can be read in last nights BEAST OR BUST.  Felix Jones should be the #1 Waiver Wire player in Every League this week.

LEGARRETTE BLOUNT – RB – TB

For all those very desperate owners this week who need a RB, and you are unlikely to grab Felix Jones.  Look no further.

Blount is a guy who can give you very little, or he can get you a goal line TD to save your day.  His next matchup against the Saints does have some upside because the Saints defense is so bad.  On the flip side if the Saints offense comes out firing and the Bucs cannot keep up.  Last week he racked up over 50 Yards and a TD in garbage time.  Before the bye he played a minimal role, but did end up with the TD.

Don’t count him out, but don’t hold high expectations for Week 7.

DARYL RICHARDSON – RB – STL

Daryl Richardson and Steven Jackson could be the modern day version of. “Thunder And Lightning” from the Tiki Barber/Ron Dayne days with the Giants.

Richardson has intriguing speed and is a great change of pace back for the Rams.  His role is larger than that and could be expanding each week as Steven Jackson is really starting to lose his speed.  With the Rams lacking a true #1 WR, the Rams will be running often.  Richardson is a great Waiver Wire sleeper that could help you out in the long-term.

MONTARIO HARDESTY – RB – CLE

Trent Richardson should be fine heading into next week.

Though it is worth mentioning that Hardesty has potential to be a #2 Fantasy RB if Trent Richardson does have to miss time.  Last season Hardesty filled in with a spot start for the struggling/injured Peyton Hillis.  The Browns pounded him 33 times, he rushed for 95 Yards and added 2 receptions for 27 Yards against a tough Seattle defense.

RBs Owned in less than 80% Of Leagues

1. JacQuizz Rodgers – Not doing much to earn the respect of anyone. Still Michael Turner looks like a candidate who will not last strong all season.

2. Brandon Bolden – He could easily be the #1 RB on this team. Check back to hear about the knee injury, but as of now he is in a position to be a Fantasy Playoff Monster.

3. William Powell – The guy to own for the Cards moving forward until Beanie Wells returns.  Going up against Minnesota next week, I would not use Powell with confidence.

JUSTIN BLACKMON – WR – JAX

Blackmon is too good to be on any waiver wire.

There’s a difference between a Kevin Walter and a Justin Blackmon.  In fact, there is more than a difference, Blackmon is a completely different animal and he is too talented for any team to grab him.  The Jaguars passing game has been atrocious so far this season, but that is what the Bye Week is for.  Blackmon was a stud during the preseason and you can guarantee the Jags went back to the drawing board to find a way to get their superstar involved.

JOSH GORDON – WR – CLE

*Josh Gordon was mentioned in the waiver wire article last week.

The Browns have a great matchup against a Colts defense has holes everywhere you look.  Just ask Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene who combined for 5 TDs on Sunday.  Gordon is clearly the #1 WR in this Browns offense that is lacking depth because of injuries at the position.  If you want that deep HR threat that can change your week.  Gordon is your sleeper.

BRANDON GIBSON – WR – STL

*Gibson was mentioned last week in the waiver wire article.  If the players below or above are not on the wire.  Then Gibson is your guy.

The Rams are going to need to put up points against the Green Bay.  Likely through the air.  Gibson showed last week that he is the #1 WR for the Rams with 7 Receptions for 91 Yards.  If you need a WR this week, and the wire is thin.  Look no further.

WRs Owned in less than 80% Of Leagues

1. Randall Cobb – Mentioned in the first wavier wire article. Cobb is Must-Own with Greg Jennings out for another couple of weeks.

2. Mike Williams – About to go off consistently. TDs A Make Them Dance.  I would add him above anyone on this list.

3. Sidney Rice – He is the best WR the Hawks have by a long shot. In games they need to throw, Rice is their man.

4. Devery Henderson – If there is a deep sleeper and everyone else is off this list. Henderson is your HR threat.

JORDAN CAMERON – TE – CLE

This is not the first time Cameron has made this list.

Cameron’s role is a bit limited with Ben Watson still alive and being a useful option for the Browns passing game. If there is one deep sleeper TE who could emerge later in the season, Cameron is the guy to own.  He is Scott Chandler/Greg Olsen/Kyle Rudolph all wrapped into one.
Other Bye Week Fliers: Dallas Clark @ NO/Brandon Myers vs. Jax/Kellen Davis vs. DET

CONNOR BARTH – K – TB

Barth has one of the strongest legs in the NFL.  The reason to start Barth this week is because the Bucs will need to put up points to keep up with Saints.  Getting in the Red Zone should not be a  problem for this bunch leaving Barth to have a very busy Sunday.

Other Bye Week Fliers: Phil Dawson @ IND/Adam Vinatieri vs. CLE/Rian Lindell vs. TEN

RAIDERS – D/ST – OAK

The Bills are the #1 Waiver wire sleeper defense to own this week. But I have mentioned them all season and continue to talk about their great playoff schedule.

This week I will talk about the Raiders.  Oakland just pulled off the Fantasy Football Upset of the week shutting down the best offense in the NFC, Atlanta.  The most impressive part was, the game was in Atlanta.  Jacksonville is nothing compared to this Falcons offense, and if you need a big upset Defense.  Oakland is your group.

Other Bye Week Fliers: BUF vs. TEN

  1. Went to beastdome too many times today waiting for the waiver wire article. Missed out on Felix Jones, and I have an empty flex spot in my lineup next week.

I picked up Blackmon and Blount…who deserves the start more this week?

    Thank you

  2. My running backs right now are a mess with Mendy and D. Murray and I’m last on the wire. Hardesty and Powell are the only guys on waiver and I might not even be able to get them. If both of those guys are gone what do you think about D.Wilson. Seems like
the only guy and can pull off right now?

  3. ppr leauge. frantional points.i have a couple of questions, sorry in advice. Keep stewart or drop him for richardson, rodgers, blount, or bolden. who would be better to have the whole season? Keep lance moore or drop him for gordon or avery. who would be better to have the whole season. Defense for week 7: ne vs nyj, oak vs jag, or dall vs car. Now here is my big problem. I have murray but didnt cuff him, i am also 9th on the waiver this week..so i know i probably will not get him. My roster is mcfadden, murray, hunter, bolden, hillis, goodson. Romo, austin, cruz, maclin, britt, gates, finley, akers, and dolphins d (bye) as of right now. I can hold 16 on my rosters, start 9 with rb/wr spot available. I worried about my rb spot..what should i do? Thanks!

  4. Did Mike Williams recently get signed because he is showing up as a free agent on my waiver list.

  5. Never mind my last comment, I clicked on all instead of available and realized you are talking about the mike williams on tb

  6. D. Richardson for Randall Cobb? I’m in need of a running back that will make a difference sooner than later and no one in my league is trading anyone!

  7. My Team consist of
    QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, Fred Jackson, Donald Brown
WR: Julio Jones, Anotnio Brown, Denarious Moore, Randall Cobb, Mike Williams
    TE: Jimmy Graham, Heath Miller
    Def: Bills
    K:Connor Barth, Matt Bryant

Bolden, Quizz, Starks, Blount and Battle are all still on wire.

  8. I am Team_KaKumbas… says im in as jt1432 ??

Anyways Desperate Here. 2 QB League and I am hurting with murray potentially being hurt. Im also 1-5 and my depth is not panning out. It is a 2 DEF league also.

    Hows this trade?
I Give: Brady, Julio (Disappointing to me) and Cincy (33 pts cin)

I Get: Vick, Dez (Who actually has a lot of targets), Leshoure (Only rb on his team now) and Seattle(70 points)

Bonus Julio is going into bye, but dez already had his. I would have to start wilson this week in a must win. Is it worth trading the best 2 players in the deal to get the depth and insurance of leshoure and the upgrade at defense?

    PLEASE HELP THIS IS DESPERATIOn

  9. Hey Munt,

Thanks for all the great advice this season! I’m currently 4-2 and in 4th place in a 12-team league. I lost Benson so I’ve been looking for another RB. Picked up Felix Jones and I’ve been trying to convince Demarco Murray’s owner to trade with me. I was offering him Andre Johnson and Brandon Bolden for Murray and Pettigrew. What do you think of the trade? My other RBs are McGahee, BJGE, JacQuizz, and Starks.

  10. Munt, need your help big time. Feel like I need a team reboot.

    Current Squad:

    QB: Flacco, Romo (I know)
RB: McGahee, R. Bush, Mendenhall, Jacquizz
    WR: M. Colston, S. Johnson, V. Jackson, D. Bowe, B. Hartline
    TE: A. Hernandez, O. Daniels
    K: M. Bryant
    Def: 49’ers

No one in my league (standard format) has been considering trades, odd as that is. So I’m left with the waiver wire.

QB: I think I need a diff backup QB option and drop either Flacco or Romo, perhaps for Dalton. Romo seems the better long term bet despite recent performance, but that could be wishful thinking

WR: Also want to add in Mike Williams as per your suggestion and was going to drop Hartline. Would also be nice to make room for Randall Cobb. Do I drop Bowe who has been horrific lately?

RB: Bring in Andre Brown for Jacquizz who’s on the waiver and sit him for a while until he’s heatlhy? Also Bolden and Woodhead are available in my league.

Your thoughts? Any other suggestions much appreciated.

  12. I am in an auction league. Would you recommend laying the bulk of my money to get jones? Seeing as he is likely going to start for two weeks and I am without foster next week. Is that worth it or put in a moderate claim? Thanks

  13. Mathews is a slight downgrade at RB, Austin is a major upgrade at WR. If you’re really struggling at WR, make the trade, but probably don’t do it

  14. While Murray’s foot could linger (ie McFadden), that would be a good trade. While Johnson is a potential buy-low, he’s in a run-happy offense. However, selling high on his name alone isn’t a bad idea

  15. I can either have Shonn Greene or Felix Jones. They would have to play this week but I would like a good backup for the long run. (2 RB spots w/ Reggie Bush, Doug Martin, and Donald Brown)

  16. Make the trade, Cobb will become very inconsistent once Jennings returns, while Richardson has big upside going forward with Jackson not looking likely to return to old form

  17. Brady and Julio are too valuable to give up for big risks like Vick and dez, especially considering those are the two guys who could turn your season around. Leshoure is still not safe enough to rely on, best is done but bell still lurks. 2 defenses makes it tough but I would still try to rely on matchups and sleepers rather than involve high caliber offensive players in a trade.

  18. Could you suggest alternatives to Garcon and Pitta in a PPR league?

I’m eyeing Gordon and Kendall Wright, Blackmon is also available.

Otherwise is there still be trade-value for them?

  19. Made this 3-way trade last week. What do you guys think?

    My squad (pre-trade):
    QB: Flacco/Romo
    RB: DMC, Forte, DBrown/Ballard, Blount
    WR: Andre, Demaryius, Nicks, Gibson
    TE: Witten, Rudolph

    The trade:
I got – Arodg, Dez Bryant
Team B (gave up Arodg) – Gore, Jennings, Flacco
Team C – Demaryius, Fred Jackson

Obvs arodg went off this weekend so the trade looks good for now. But who do u think won/lost the deal? and should I be making any more moves (i.e. trading Witten/Rudolph for more RB/WR depth?)

  20. trade looks pretty even to me. I assume team B had another decent QB1 to play. You upgraded QB and downgraded WR.

  21. I would definitely not make that trade. You should be able to get that trade with Brady or JJ alone.

  22. I have Romo too…not happy about it. I would pick up Williams or Cobb for Hartline but I wouldn’t leave Bowe on the waiver for someone else to grab.

  23. I think you made a great move and got the most value. Dez has been absent lately but he is still a good receiver even tho definitely a downgrade from Thomas. Regardless you still have good depth in WR and Rodgers is A HUGE upgrade over Flacco.

  24. I want to run a trade possibility by you guys. I unfortunately have Murray and am unlikely to pick up Jones through waivers (I’m 11 of 12). I currently have Foster, McGahee (bye) and William Powell as my RBs. I’m thinking of trading Foster to get Alfred Morris and MJD. Am I crazy?

I’m going to wait until after waivers to see if I’m lucky enough to get Felix but would like to know from the group if I’m panicking.

  25. I also have Romo and Flacco and am considering of dropping one. My league is also pretty trade averse.

If you’re able to add Williams, why not consider Munt’s TB strategy and grab Freeman for one of your QBs. I would drop Flacco for Freeman as once his run of favorable match ups ends, Romo seems to have the better matchups thereafter.

I unfortunately would have to trade for Willilams which is unlikely. But I’d still drop Flacco for Freeman even without Williams.

  26. PPR –
    Should I make this trade?

I give Antonio Brown and Jared Cook and I get in return Mike Williams and Jay Cutler

I picked up Josh Freeman as Rivers is on Bye
I don’t really need Cutler unless he could be better ROS over Rivers or I stick with Freeman for ROS

My WR’s are Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin, Antonio Brown and James Jones
My TE’s are Hernandez and Jared Cook

  27. Should I start Michael Crabtree or Heath Miller in my flex this week? Crabtree is very boom or bust, but Miller is consistent and due for a TD.
